Creature Commandos Finally Reveals the Tragic (and Surprising) Truth About Weasel’s Origin

As a cinephile with a soft spot for complex and tragic characters, I must admit that Weasel’s backstory in Creature Commandos has left me deeply moved. Having spent countless hours immersed in the works of James Gunn, I can confidently say that Weasel is a character straight out of his playbook – an outsider yearning for redemption and acceptance.

In this week’s fourth installment of “Creature Commandos”, we witnessed another heartrending backstory unfold for one of its key figures – Weasel. Previously portrayed as a comical villain in “The Suicide Squad”, Weasel’s past was shrouded in tragedy, having been imprisoned at Belle Reeve for the murder of numerous children. Three years on, the latest episodes of “Creature Commandos” shed light on the real story behind Weasel’s crimes, causing viewers to reconsider their initial perceptions of this character.

In the latest episode of Creature Commandos, it turned out that Weasel appeared to be responsible for the death of multiple children, but it wasn’t his intentional doing. Surprisingly, Weasel was attempting to rescue the children when they met their unfortunate fate.

Initially shunned and viewed as frightening, Weasel found acceptance among a band of schoolchildren in the community. Each day, they played together and showed him affection, a feeling he may have experienced for the initial time. This bond grew stronger within him, and he developed a sense of guardianship towards them.

One afternoon, children were engaging in playtime with a pet named Weasel near their school, when a concerned individual mistook Weasel’s actions for harmful intent towards the kids. He dialed the police, armed himself, and ventured back into the school in an attempt to subdue Weasel. As he was absent, the children inadvertently ignited a fire within the vacant school. Upon his return, the man attempted to persuade Weasel to depart, but the ensuing blaze sparked an explosion.

In the midst of gunfire, Weasel attempted to escort the children out, but a man mistakenly believed that he was stealing them. Regrettably, several kids perished during this chaos, yet Weasel successfully exited with one young girl whom he held particularly dear among the group. The police intervened and forced him to relinquish her. Due to his limited ability to communicate effectively, he couldn’t explain that he was trying to protect her. As the fire raged on, it ultimately claimed the life of the little girl while authorities focused on apprehending Weasel.

For all these years, Weasel has essentially been an unassuming being yearning for love and affection. He lost companions whom he cherished deeply due to prejudices held by those in power based on his appearance. Moreover, he was falsely accused of a heinous crime and served time in prison as an innocent man.

Essentially, Weasel embodies the essence of a character crafted by James Gunn. He’s an individual who, despite being an outcast, deserves salvation. Interestingly, he’s someone who is fully comprehended by his surroundings. In a sense, he’s a potential hero yet to emerge.

New episodes of Creature Commandos debut on Max every Thursday.
