In a fresh and simple manner: The series “Creature Commandos” kick-started the new DC film and TV universe in an impressive way, introducing popular characters such as The Bride, G.I. Robot, and Nina Mazursky to the masses. DC was thrilled with the positive reception, quickly renewing it for a second season soon after its debut, although the exact release date remains unclear. Fortunately, we now have some insights about the progress of season 2 from Dean Lorey, the writer and showrunner of “Creature Commandos” and “Harley Quinn,” who shared with The Direct that they are currently working on it aggressively, and it’s already moving swiftly through production.
Absolutely. Though we’re still at the beginning stages, we are diligently working towards overcoming this season’s challenges. We’re making progress and getting a better grasp of things as we go along. It appears they’ve prioritized this project seriously, so yes, we’re fully committed to it.
If they’re making steady progress and the project is moving quickly, there’s a good chance we might get season 2 fairly soon. However, given where they are now in the development process, releasing it by 2025 seems unlikely. But, it could come out as late as 2026 or possibly even 2027, so the exact release date is hard to predict at this point due to various factors involved.
Lorey was also questioned about potential developments hinted at in the last episode of the show and if some new team members could significantly impact season 2. “Well, I believe there will be some truth to it. You see, those are all characters we think would be exciting for the next season. And James [Gunn] penned every episode last season, so those were his instincts, which are quite reliable. So yes, I’d say that’s a possibility, and let me add, there’s no scenario where I wouldn’t want a more powerful GI Robot in season 2,” Lorey stated.
