It was recently announced for the forthcoming Nintendo Switch 2; preliminary gameplay suggests that “Cyberpunk 2077” will run smoother and boast improved graphics on the new handheld gaming system compared to its performance on Valve’s Steam Deck. Videos showcased on YouTube channel Deck Wizard offer a glimpse of various aspects of “Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition” running on a Switch 2.
In the demo for the Switch 2 edition of Cyberpunk 2077, not only do we see the settings menus but also various other options including accessibility features. It appears that the game is being played in performance mode with HDR10 activated, which allows it to run at a steady 40 frames per second on the Switch 2’s handheld setting.
For graphics customization, Switch 2 users can adjust various options such as Film Grain, Chromatic Aberration, Depth of Field, Lens Flare, and Motion Blur. Additionally, players will have ample opportunities to tinker with the game’s control settings, including the option to employ Gyro Aiming.
The “Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition” is set to debut alongside the Switch 2. This release not only encompasses the main game but also the widely praised “Phantom Liberty” expansion, providing an entirely fresh area within Night City for gamers to delve into.
CD Projekt RED has confirmed that the Switch 2 edition of Cyberpunk 2077 will include a range of features tailored for the console’s hardware, including Gyroscope mode, touch screen inventory management through gestures like tapping, swiping, and pinch-zooming, and the ability to use Joy-Con 2’s mouse functionality as an alternative control scheme.
If you’ve previously invested time in Cyberpunk 2077 on different systems, the developers have assured us that the Switch 2 version will support cross-progression. This means that players on PC or PS5 can effortlessly transfer their saved games to the Switch 2 edition of the game.
As CD Projekt RED prepares for the June 5 debut of the Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition alongside the anticipated Switch 2 release, they are simultaneously engaged in the development of the game’s sequel. A job listing uncovered in February suggests that this follow-up will also be a first-person game, similar to its predecessor.
Previously, a job advertisement hinted at the ambition of the studio to develop significantly bigger and more lifelike Non-Player Character (NPC) groups in the upcoming sequel. The position was for a lead encounter designer, as per the listing, suggesting that the next installment of the series will feature more authentic and responsive NPC crowds.
