Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition’s Latest Trailer Describes Switch 2 Release as Best Handheld Version

CD Projekt RED has unveiled a new trailer for the forthcoming Nintendo Switch release of the “Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition”. In this video, you’ll find the developers discussing their efforts in adapting the expansive game for the upcoming console. You can watch it below.

In the preview, game director Adam Badowski discusses the studio’s objective to produce exceptional role-playing games and emphasizes the importance of immersion within the game. Charles Tremblay, vice president of technology, is also featured in the trailer, discussing the level of agency players can expect during their time in Night City. Furthermore, Tremblay has referred to the Switch 2 version of Cyberpunk 2077 as offering the superior handheld experience of the game.

Tremblay remarked that the experience remains just as incredible, and he believes long-time players will find themselves quite comfortable. He added that there are numerous methods for engaging in the game using the controllers. The new LCD screens with VRR support provide an exceptional way to enjoy the game on-the-go, according to him, making it the best option yet.

The trailer highlighted an exclusive aspect of the Switch 2 version of the game: the innovative Joy-Con 2 controllers. In the trailer, it was demonstrated that players could employ motion control using a single Joy-Con 2 for wielding melee weapons such as katanas.

Previously this week, game director Paweł Sasko discussed the difficulties in adapting Cyberpunk 2077 for the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2. On social media platform X, he explained that it requires an “immense amount of work” with our top-tier teams at CD Projekt RED focusing on the port. “If you want to see what the Nintendo Switch 2 is truly capable of,” he stated, “Cyberpunk 2077 serves as a remarkable demonstration.”

In terms of technical details, an earlier video suggested that the “Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition” appears to run more smoothly on the Switch 2 compared to the Steam Deck, achieving a consistent 40 frames per second (FPS) and offering players adjustable settings for customization.

The studio has verified that Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition will employ a unique DLSS variant tailored by Nvidia for Switch 2. This DLSS version will be active across all console settings, including handheld, docked, and performance/quality modes in each.

As a gamer, I’m thrilled to share that the studio has implemented an advanced version of DLSS, specifically designed for the potential hardware of Nintendo Switch 2. This technology leverages Nvidia’s Tensor cores to deliver an exceptional gaming experience. Notably, our game employs DLSS across all four modes, catering equally to handheld and docked playstyles. The performance and visual quality vary slightly in each mode, but the immersive gaming experience remains consistent.
