When it comes to slimming down, Cynthia Bailey prefers doing things the old fashioned way.
As a devoted fan, I’m excited to share that one of my favorite stars from The Real Housewives of Atlanta has embarked on a new chapter – a health and wellness journey! She shared that she gained a few extra pounds last year that she’d rather not have, and now she’s taking action to change that.
In an exclusive chat with TopMob News cohost Justin Sylvester, Cynthia admitted that she might have put on some extra pounds during the filming of season 16 of Housewives. She attributed it to a variety of factors, including stress and menopause, which made her overindulge in food and drinks. She also mentioned that her recent relationship has caused her clothes to no longer fit comfortably. (Tune in to TopMob News tonight, Jan. 15, at 11 p.m., for more of our exclusive interview with Cynthia and former RHOBH star Crystal Kung Minkoff.)
Similar to several other celebrities on the Real Housewives franchise, Cynthia initially opted for medications typically used to manage Type II diabetes, such as Ozempic, as a means to initiate her weight loss journey.
57-year-old confessed, “At first, I was inclined to snap the photo since all my friends seemed fabulous in it without a doubt. However, after giving it a try for a month, I must say that personally, it didn’t suit me as I still appreciate food and found myself losing interest in meals. Food is something I genuinely enjoy, but this experience left me feeling less than pleasant.
Although she personally dislikes the side effects of the appetite-reducing drug, Cynthia remains impartial and does not pass judgment on those who use it for weight loss purposes.
She expressed gratitude towards those who are benefiting from Ozempic or semaglutide, but it didn’t work for her. She explained that she prefers to savor her meals, especially crab cakes, salad, oysters, and BBQ ribs. Instead, when taking the medication, she found herself looking at the food puzzled, thinking “What is this? What am I supposed to do with this?
Moreover, the ex-supermodel mentioned, “I preferred not to rely on the injection. If I chose to step away, I didn’t want to regain the weight.
So, she turned to a more traditional method of getting into shape.
As a dedicated admirer of Weight Watchers, I confessed that I reached out to them in search of a nurturing support network. You see, I was struggling on my own and found myself spinning my wheels without any progress. I had been attempting to conquer this challenge solo, but it seemed insurmountable. However, joining forces with Weight Watchers has proven to be a game-changer! I’m thrilled to report that I’ve already shed 10 pounds since we began working together.
In the end, it’s not just about a number on a scale for the reality star.
Cynthia shared with TopMob that she always values health above all else and makes it a key aspect of her life. She expressed, “This isn’t the weight that feels right for me. I plan on losing some pounds and getting back to a weight where I feel comfortable.” While she still retains her striking cheekbones, Cynthia clarified that she’s not aiming to be thin but rather wants to comfortably fit into her clothes again.
Tune in to TopMob News this evening, January 15th, at 11 p.m., to delve deeper into Cynthia’s story and uncover all the details about their freshly launched podcast, Humble Brag. You can listen to it on your preferred podcast platform.

Previously, Novo Nordisk, the manufacturer of Ozempic, informed TopMob News that this medication has not been granted approval by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) specifically for managing long-term weight issues.
Though it’s possible that certain medical professionals might prescribe Ozempic to aid weight loss, Novo Nordisk does not advocate, advise, or endorse using our drugs for purposes other than their approved ones. We strictly adhere to all relevant U.S. laws and guidelines in marketing our products. We believe healthcare providers are assessing the unique requirements of each patient and choosing the appropriate medication accordingly.
Comedian Handler found out the hard way that Ozempic isn’t something to joke about – she discovered her doctor prescribing this medicine, unbeknownst to her, under the guise of anti-aging treatment.
During the January 25, 2023 episode of Call Her Daddy, she remarked, “I hadn’t realized I was on it, but when she suggested, ‘If you ever wish to lose five pounds, this is a good approach,’ I found myself agreeing.
But while she tried the drug, Handler noted that she didn’t like how it made her feel.
She reminisced about returning from a vacation and self-administering something. A few days later, during lunch with a friend, she mentioned, “I’m not eating much at all. I feel so queasy; I’m on Ozempic.” To which she replied, “I feel queasy too,” but she had just returned from Spain and was still experiencing jet lag.
In the end, Handler chose to discontinue the use of the medication as it was not essential for her medical care. Furthermore, she distributed the unused doses among friends.
She mentioned, “I’ve given approximately four or five of my friends Ozempic, as I found it unnecessary. It’s intended for heavier individuals. When people visit me, I often say something like, ‘Come over at 1, come over at 2.'”
Khloe Kardashian clapped back when commenters on Instagram speculated that she was taking Ozempic.
In a January 2023 post, Kardashian shared: “Please don’t underestimate my years of dedication to fitness. Five days a week, I rise at 6am for my workouts. Let’s put an end to the speculations. It seems that even with the new year, there are still rude individuals.

However, I decided to give it a try since numerous patients of mine were on it, and I was eager to experience its effects when you’re not diabetic and only need to shed 10 to 15 pounds.
Despite not revealing the amount of weight lost or the duration he took the medication, Dr. Dubrow acknowledged that he is no longer using it now.

In an interview published on July 6, 2023, she said to Bustle, “Indeed, it isn’t Ozempic; it’s self-discipline. It’s almost as if people are asking me to return to my old habits of drinking or considering another pregnancy. But my body simply can’t accommodate those things anymore.
Nassif echoed his Botched costar in giving the drug two thumbs up.
According to an exclusive interview with TopMob News in February 2024, Nassif stated that there should be no judging or criticism towards Ozempic usage. He himself is supportive of it and has noticed improvements in health and appearance among his friends who use it. They have reported lower blood sugars and blood pressure levels, which could potentially contribute to a longer lifespan, as long as it’s used correctly.
Indeed, the renowned plastic surgeon mentioned that Ozempic might offer additional advantages beyond just weight management. In fact, he suggested that it could potentially serve as an anti-aging treatment in the future. So, there’s a lot of hope for more benefits as we continue to explore and understand semaglutides and various products better.

Following her departure from the drug, Bader, who is candid about her struggle with compulsive overeating, expressed that it led to a vicious pattern of excessive eating.
She shared that she consulted a physician who said, “It’s absolutely due to your use of Ozempic,” as it had caused her to feel less hungry for an extended period. As a result, she shed some pounds. However, she wasn’t keen on continuing the treatment long-term and thought, “I suspect the moment I stop taking it, I’ll start feeling ravenous again.” Indeed, this happened, and her binge eating worsened. Consequently, she started attributing her issues to Ozempic.
