Cynthia Erivo & Taylor Swift’s Unexpected Grammy Connection Revealed

Cynthia Erivo and Taylor Swift might just be taking a getaway car.

The actress from Wicked – nominated for two Critics Choice Awards at the February 7 ceremony for her role in the Broadway adaptation, including Best Actress and Best Acting Ensemble – reminisced about her experience at the Grammys on February 2 and sharing something more than just a memorable moment with the singer of “Lavender Haze”.

As TopMob News correspondent Will Marfuggi reported during our conversation on the Critics Choice Awards red carpet on February 7th, Cynthia warmly invited me to join her at her seat. Being slightly tardy, I found myself in a bit of a rush. However, her friendly gesture was too inviting to resist. “Come, sit with me,” she said. And so, I obliged, finding myself seated alongside this gracious woman.

Besides sitting together at the most significant music event, Taylor also found an opportunity to replicate the popular “Holding Space” meme alongside the Oscar-nominated individual.

Cynthia laughed as she recounted, ‘She indeed held onto my finger.’ She went on to say, ‘The entire evening was simply delightful, without a doubt. It set the perfect tone for such an enjoyable night.’

However, the delightful encounter with the “Anti-Hero” singer was merely the first of many unforgettable moments during the Grammys for her. Later on in the evening, Cynthia, whose co-star Ariana Grande is also nominated for several Critics Choice Awards, such as Best Supporting Actress, joined a unique tribute honoring music legend Quincy Jones, who sadly passed away in November.

She went on to say, ‘That was absolutely extraordinary! It was truly an honor to perform for Q. He held significant value to me, as we were acquainted. To pay tribute to him in such a manner held immense significance. I’m grateful that it resonated with the audience.

Additionally, she experienced a significant burden to excel in the rendition of “Fly Me to the Moon,” a song that Quincy had a hand in creating its production.

Cynthia said, ‘That’s quite a challenging tune to perform.’ She further added, ‘Filling those big shoes to sing that song is no small task. So I was relieved when everything turned out okay.’
