Cynthia Erivo’s Oscars Nail Game Is Pure Magic

Cynthia Erivo is magical right down to her fingertips.

Indeed, the actress nominated for Best Actress in a Leading Role at the Oscars 2025, known for her role as Elphaba in the Jon M. Chu film “Wicked”, shared details of her new lavish nail design just outside the Dolby Theatre.

Cynthia, who’s known for her lengthy nail appointments lasting up to five hours, shared with Zuri Hall at the 2025 Oscars red carpet on March 2 that creating each carpet takes time and they always build upon previous ones. This time, they crafted a tribute to Oz, featuring the Emerald City’s greens, golds, and guild motifs. (Check out all the stars on the red carpet here.)

In the scene, a 38-year-old woman requested the camera to focus closely on her intricate stage setup. This setup featured a clock embedded in one finger and an exquisite gold artwork on another, both skillfully created by Los Angeles-based nail artist Mycah Dior. Cynthia admired it, exclaiming, “She crafted it herself.

On the final night of the movie, Cynthia remarked, “Since it was our last chance, we wanted to make it grand and memorable.

As she put it, “We try to go as hard as we can.”

Cynthia’s manicurist couldn’t resist expressing admiration for the design, and even shared on her Instagram Story on March 2, “I believe I have exceeded my own capabilities with this set.

Additionally, Cynthia, who is nominated alongside Mikey Madison from “Anora”, Fernanda Torres from “I’m Still Here”, Demi Moore from “The Substance”, and Karla Sofía Gascón from “Emilia Pérez” for the Best Actress award, didn’t shy away from making a statement with her nails. She also chose a striking Louis Vuitton ballgown, which she explained was inspired by Oz and Elphaba’s green, as well as old Hollywood.

Cynthia excitedly shared that she had long dreamed of wearing an impressive gown to the Oscars if given the chance. Now, look at us, adorning a stunning, oversized green dress. I’m feeling fantastic in it!

Absolutely, Cynthia’s sense of amazement isn’t solely due to her appearance. She was also thrilled when she received her Best Actress nomination for the movie “Wicked,” which garnered nine additional nominations, among them a Best Supporting Actress nod for Ariana Grande and a Best Picture nomination as well.

Cynthia expressed her delight over her nomination on Instagram on January 23rd, saying moments like these are rare and should never be missed without expressing gratitude. She is thankful to The Academy, appreciative of being a part of something that resonates with people, grateful for contributing to a work that instills belief in magic, thrilled about realizing her dream, and profoundly grateful for this incredible acknowledgement.
