Police are continuing to investigate a horrific crime.
Following the accusation of murder against Washington state resident Travis Decker in connection with the deaths of his daughters Paityn (9), Evelyn (8), and Olivia (5), a U.S. Marshals Service affidavit, obtained by NBC News, indicates that he conducted suspicious Google searches.
In his affidavit dated June 6th, as reported by NBC, US Deputy Marshal Keegan Stanley stated that the searched terms on Google were: “How does one migrate to Canada?”, “Ways to relocate to Canada?”, “Jobs in Canada” and repeated searches for “Jobs in Canada”. Subsequently, he navigated to the website ‘Job Bank – Canada.ca’.
An active search is taking place for a 32-year-old named Decker, who hasn’t been spotted since his daughters were discovered deceased, each with a plastic bag covering their head, in Chelan County, Washington, near an abandoned vehicle of his on June 2.
As I pen this down, I find myself in the spotlight as a person of interest for three counts of first-degree Murder and Kidnapping, according to a June 2 statement from the Wenatchee police. Subsequently, reinforcements from other law enforcement agencies joined the search in our vicinity. In the course of this operation, the bodies of the three missing girls were tragically unearthed.
On May 30, Decker took Paityn, Evelyn, and Olivia to meet up with their mother, who is none other than Whitney Decker, during a routine custody visit, as Arianna Cozart, her attorney, shared with CNN on June 8. It’s worth mentioning that the ex-couple have been divorced for quite some time but continue to foster a cooperative and amicable relationship as co-parents.
At the transfer point, Cozart clarified that Decker had informed his former wife he’d return their daughters to her at 8 p.m. on that very day, since their arrangement didn’t permit overnight stays.
If Decker failed to arrive as scheduled, Whitney grew concerned and attempted to call him; however, his phone immediately diverted to voice mail. Later in the evening, she contacted the authorities, as reported in an affidavit acquired by NBC News.
According to Cozart, Decker faced challenges related to his mental health, however, he emphasized that there were no signs or warnings, often associated as ‘red flags’, that Whitney noticed.
According to an affidavit acquired by NBC News, Decker is portrayed as a seasoned military veteran proficient in wilderness survival. He’s known for being able to endure lengthy periods, even weeks, in the wilderness with minimal gear.
