Daddy Issues: Release date, cast, plot and trailer

As a seasoned movie buff with a penchant for comedies that strike the right balance between humor and heart, I’m eagerly anticipating the release of Daddy Issues on BBC Three and iPlayer. With a stellar cast led by Aimee Lou Wood and David Morrissey, this six-episode series promises to delve into the complexities of family dynamics, parenthood, and the unexpected twists that life often throws our way.

In simpler terms, the BBC humor show “Daddy Issues” delves into the unique bond that forms when Gemma (Aimee Lou Wood), an unplanned mother, interacts with her father Malcolm (David Morrissey), a man who has just gone through a divorce.

“The storyline of ‘Daddy Issues’ encompasses various trials and tribulations such as unsuccessful relationships, harmful friendships, complicated family situations, and an unsettling mentor during pregnancy. However, amidst these challenges, it’s a heartfelt tale that centers around a father-daughter relationship, exploring the complexities of parenthood at any point in life.”

Daddy Issues plot: What’s it about?

“At age 24, hedonistic Gemma finds herself unexpectedly pregnant following a casual encounter. With no other option, she seeks help and support from her somewhat helpless father, Malcolm.”

Due to the chaos in Gemma’s financial situation and her apprehension about living alone, she requests her newly divorced father to share living quarters with her. However, he lacks basic household skills such as loading a washing machine, cooking an egg, or heating rice in a microwave without causing it to explode.

“What’s the worst that could happen?” asks the logline.
