Daisy May Cooper thinks she’s haunted by This Country co-star Michael Sleggs

Daisy May Cooper has disclosed that she feels as though her late friend and collaborator on “This Country,” Michael Sleggs, is still with her in some ghostly way.

In 2019, the actor known for portraying Michael ‘Slugs’ Slugette in the renowned mockumentary, sadly passed away following multiple health complications. Among these were cancer diagnosed during his teenage years and a severe heart condition.

Prior to casting Sleggs in their series, Daisy May and her brother Charlie Cooper, the co-creators of This Country, were close friends with him. In the final season of their show, they made an emotional tribute to him.

Approximately five years after the event, Daisy has written a book called “Hexy Bitch,” which recounts her encounters with the supernatural. In this week’s TopMob interview, she expressed her conviction that Sleggs is tormenting her.

A month before the interview, she remembered an instance where there was a loud knocking on her bedroom door, followed earlier by another event where the blanket on her bed seemed to have risen up.

 

Cooper went on to say, “That knock on the door was unlike any we’d heard before – it had a distinct pattern. My partner and I exchanged glances… I’ve no doubt, it was Sleggs.

If anyone were to return from beyond the grave and give me a message, it’d be him. He was such a special person, you know? I asked him to promise he’d come back, knowing full well he’d think it would scare me silly and find it amusing.

Under the care of palliative services, Sleggs asserted that he encountered an angel in his hospital room, who promised him a fresh body by midnight within a week. Exactly at 11:59 pm, a week later, he passed away.

During the premiere event for This Country’s third season, held some time following Sleggs’ unfortunate demise, Cooper conveyed to the audience that “Michael was somewhat of an outsider in Cirencester.

She mused: “Despite his frequent health issues, he possessed an impish sense of humor that captivated us all. While he could be quite troublesome at times, it was precisely this trait that endeared him to us so deeply.
