Damon Albarn, Liam Gallagher and more – Blur to the End director Toby L tells all!

As a movie reviewer who lived through the ’90s Britpop era, I can’t help but feel a sense of nostalgia when I think about Blur and their recent reunion. The band was a significant part of my teenage years, and their music brought joy to countless fans around the world.

In the ’90s, I can hardly believe it’s been three decades already! The Britpop scene was thriving with two standout bands: Oasis and Blur. While Oasis disintegrated due to sibling rivalry, Blur persisted through various breakups and reunions, mostly on good terms. In 2023, they came back together briefly to produce an album called “The Ballad of Darren,” which led to their first tour at Wembley Stadium. This fascinating journey was chronicled in the documentary by filmmaker Toby L, who had previously worked on “Knebworth 22 : Liam Gallagher.”

At long last, the band gathered at Damon’s house in the western countryside for their initial reunion after an eight-year absence. They opened up about their concerns and interpersonal issues, but their discussion was disrupted by several occurrences that threatened to derail their upcoming tour.

In a surprising turn of events, Blur reunited last year after an eight-year hiatus and released a new album. We had the opportunity to speak with director Toby L about their reunion, which included conversations with Damon Albarn and Liam Gallagher, as well as a wealth of behind-the-scenes stories and archive footage.

Here’s what Toby had to say about the band and his Blur documentary…..
