Dancing on Ice star Sarah Storey pulls out of 2025 season after fall on ice

As a seasoned movie-goer who’s seen more than a few comeback stories, I must say that Dame Sarah Storey’s tale is one for the books. Her journey on Dancing on Ice 2025 might have hit an unexpected ice patch with her recent ankle injury, but this Paralympian’s resilience and determination are as unstoppable as ever.

Dame Sarah Storey, a Paralympian, has unfortunately been forced to withdraw from the upcoming series of Dancing on Ice due to a broken ankle she sustained during rehearsals.

On her Instagram post, Storey shared the disappointing news that her Dancing on Ice training has been halted. She wrote, “I’m completely disheartened because my initial dance routine with @slongchambon was finally starting to take shape!

A clumsy slip on the icy ground caused my left foot to become trapped, unfortunately resulting in a broken ankle.

She continued, expressing gratitude for having Sylvain and Coach Stephen Pickavance alongside her, who were adept at providing the right assistance. Moreover, she praised the exceptional caliber of the medical team supporting the show.

Sharon Morrison UK’s Medical Director promptly arranged for me to see an exceptional surgeon, ensuring that I received immediate care. Now, I’m recovering at home as my rehabilitation process begins!

We deeply regret that Dame Sarah Storey can no longer participate in Dancing on Ice 2025, and our hearts go out to her as we wish for a swift recovery.

Though my left skating boot isn’t ready for the ice in January, I’m collaborating with ITV’s team to devise a future plan. Regardless, I’ll always be a passionate supporter of the exceptional Class of 2025.

Meanwhile, I’ll dedicate myself entirely to the necessary exercises for building strength and flexibility, aiming to regain my peak performance and return to my bike before the upcoming season!

Over the course of my professional journey, I’ve experienced numerous highs and lows, from injuries, illnesses, and taking time off to welcome two new babies into the world. This diverse set of experiences makes me confident in my ability to make a successful return once more.

“Thankfully the surgeon said I have strong bones so otherwise it could have been a lot worse.”

Despite not appearing on the ITV show itself, Storey expressed her appreciation for the opportunity to begin learning ice skating alongside amazing individuals (as shown in pictures 4-7). She felt fortunate to have had an exceptional professional partner and coaching staff supporting her throughout the rehearsals.

Storey became the last competitor to be revealed for the Dancing on Ice 2025 cast, alongside notable figures such as Ferne McCann, Mollie Pearce, Chelsee Healey, Chris Taylor, and others.

Regarding potential late additions to the cast or the possibility of Storey appearing during the new season, we’ll simply need to stay tuned for updates.
