Daniel Day Lewis comes out of retirement …..

As a cinephile who has been fortunate enough to witness Daniel Day-Lewis’s remarkable acting journey, I can hardly contain my excitement about his return to the silver screen! His retirement was like a symphony without its maestro, and now, it seems, Ronan Day-Lewis has taken up the baton.

One of our most esteemed actors, Daniel Day Lewis, known for a small but impressive collection of films, has been highly respected by directors like Scorsese, Spielberg, and Mann. With three Oscars under his belt, it’s no surprise that the industry holds him in high regard. After 2017’s The Phantom Thread, he announced his retirement from acting. However, the news now is that Daniel Day Lewis is coming out of retirement – all thanks to his son Ronan Day-Lewis, a 26-year-old filmmaker and painter who is preparing for his solo exhibition debut in Hong Kong.

In this instance, the film set to mark his acting comeback will be titled “Anemone,” helmed by debut director Ronan. The script for this family-focused movie was jointly penned by father and son. It delves into the intricacies of familial bonds, particularly those between fathers, sons, and brothers. Sean Bean, Samantha Morton, Samuel Bottomley, and Safia Oakley-Green make up the rest of the cast.

Peter Kujawski, chairman of Focus Features, expressed his enthusiasm in a statement: “We are thrilled to join forces with the talented visual artist, Ronan Day-Lewis, for his debut feature film. He will be collaborating creatively with Daniel Day-Lewis. The duo has penned an exceptional script that we eagerly anticipate sharing with our audience, working together with Plan B Entertainment to bring their joint vision to life.

Daniel Day-Lewis has been honored with three Academy Awards for Best Actor, one for “My Left Foot,” another for “There Will Be Blood,” and the third for “Lincoln.” He also received Oscar nominations for his performances in “In the Name of the Father,” “Gangs of New York,” and “Phantom Thread.” It remains to be seen if his upcoming film will add to this impressive list of accolades. Filming starts soon.
