The Danish actor Ulrich Thomsen will portray Sinestro, a cunning and captivating figure who was once a Green Lantern but has since turned sinister. The series also boasts Kelly Macdonald, Garret Dillahunt, and Poorna Jagannathan in significant roles. The Green Lanterns series focuses on Jordan and Stewart, two cosmic law enforcers, who find themselves entangled in a sinister mystery on Earth while investigating a murder in the Midwest of America.
In the expansive DC Comics universe, Sinestro plays a crucial role in the Green Lantern storyline. Originally part of the Green Lantern Corps, he was expelled due to his misuse of immense power. His fixation on undermining his previous student, Hal Jordan, is a significant trait that shaped his character and led to an iconic comic book conflict called the Sinestro Corps War.
The cold-hearted cunning of Sinestro places him among the most intricate and hazardous adversaries in the DC universe lore. In the 2011 flop “Green Lantern,” Mark Strong portrayed this character. The movie depicted Sinestro as the top Green Lantern, culminating with his acquisition of a yellow ring powered by fear, which would have been significant in a sequel that was never produced.

The Lanterns television show is jointly written by Chris Mundy, Damon Lindelof, and Tom King, with James Hawes taking charge of the first two episodes. This eight-episode production is a collaboration between HBO, Warner Bros. Television, and DC Studios. Initially planned for Max Original, Lanterns will now be broadcast on HBO due to a change in content distribution strategy.
