Danny Dyer “loved” his fabulous Rivals wig – but really didn’t like singing

As a seasoned film enthusiast who has witnessed the evolution of British acting talent over the years, I must say that Danny Dyer‘s transformation for his role in Rivals is nothing short of impressive. The man who once ruled the mean streets of Walford as a hard-nosed EastEnders character now dons a fringe and plays an electronics business magnate on Disney Plus, a stark contrast that adds to his versatility as an actor.

Danny Dyer shares some cherished experiences during the filming of the new Disney+ series “Rivals,” as well as instances where he felt a bit hesitant.

In a different yet captivating portrayal, the iconic figure from EastEnders assumes the role of Freddie Jones, a highly successful electronics magnate who ranks among Rutshire’s wealthiest individuals. A stark contrast to his previous roles, Dyer presents an entirely new image that leaves viewers amazed.

As a dedicated cinephile, I’m among the performers who can’t wait to hit the road after wrapping up a scene. However, in this production, many of us were sporting wigs, which led to an amusing lineup as we took turns to remove them one by one.

Joking that he is “losing [his] hair”, having a fringe was a welcome thing for the actor.

He mentioned, “I played around with that trim all day long, and it turned out the wig was quite authentic. The mustache added to the realism. Once I donned the wig, I felt like I had transformed into the character.

But if there is one thing Dyer wasn’t particularly swayed by when filming, it was singing!

He added: “You’ve got to commit. I tell you what, Bat Out Of Hell – it’s a tricky song and it goes for 12 minutes. Luckily, they cut me off at 6!”
