Daredevil: Born Again Lands Surprising Composer

As a longtime fan of Marvel’s gritty and complex take on Daredevil, I’m absolutely thrilled to hear that Andy Grush and Taylor Newton Stewart, the horror-scoring duo known as the Newton Brothers, are composing for “Daredevil: Born Again.” Their work on projects like “Doctor Sleep,” “The Haunting of Hill House,” and “Five Nights at Freddy’s” has shown their ability to create haunting and intense scores that perfectly capture the mood and atmosphere of their respective stories.

The post-production process for “Daredevil: Born Again,” which stars Charlie Cox, is ongoing. A recent report from “Film Music Reporter” reveals an unexpected choice for the composers of the series: Andy Grush and Taylor Newton Stewart, also known as the Newton Brothers. Previously, they worked on “X-Men ’97” for Marvel Studios. However, their resume mainly consists of scoring horror projects prior to this collaboration.

The Newton Brothers have composed music for several horror projects, such as “Doctor Sleep,” “The Haunting of Hill House,” “Five Nights at Freddy’s,” and “The Fall of the House of Usher,” to name a few.

Earlier this year, the production of the first nine episodes of the series came to an end after undergoing significant creative changes. Instead of serving as a gentle restart, these new episodes evolved into what is now being referred to as a “spiritual Season Four.”

Until now, Marvel Studios has been vague about what constitutes the Sacred Timeline and what doesn’t. This ambiguity stemmed from a time when the studio was focused on ensuring a successful conclusion to projects being developed outside of Marvel, specifically for Netflix.

“Previously, we knew about each other’s actions, and vice versa. However, there were many factors to manage. But with some distance and reflection, I believe, including myself as Brad Winderbaum, that these stories fit seamlessly together – they now constitute the Sacred Timeline.”
