In a fresh sneak peek for Daredevil: Born Again, it seems we’re witnessing a crackdown by a self-appointed enforcer. This upcoming Disney+ series transports us once more to Hell’s Kitchen, with several familiar faces from the canceled Netflix series reappearing in their original roles. The main characters in Daredevil: Born Again are Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock/Daredevil and Vincent D’Onofrio as Wilson Fisk/Kingpin, with their conflict taking center stage in the show. In this new storyline, Kingpin is the Mayor of New York, leveraging his position to eliminate the threat posed by vigilantes, which includes none other than the Man Without Fear himself.
The 28-second teaser for Daredevil: Born Again starts off with Matt Murdock’s voiceover, reminding us of his profession as a lawyer. A series of swiftly edited scenes show Matt going about his daily life in his civilian persona before he opens a closet to reveal five of his Daredevil costumes. As someone questions, “What sort of lawyer are you?”, we witness Daredevil springing into action.

Following up, Wilson Fisk asserts that “vigilantes aren’t heroes,” a statement that could significantly impact the broader Marvel Cinematic Universe. Notably, Netflix (and now Disney+) have been the platforms where we’ve witnessed the street-level aspect of the MCU unfold. Contrastingly, the movies have primarily focused on Marvel characters such as the Avengers and the Guardians of the Galaxy. However, the upcoming series Daredevil: Born Again is shedding light on how our street-level characters are navigating within the MCU. If figures like Daredevil are deemed outlaws, it undoubtedly increases the challenges they face in combatting crime.
In the MCU, Wilson Fisk’s actions against vigilantes could mirror the way Kingpin handled them in the comics. This reached a climax during the “Devil’s Reign” event, where Kingpin established a task force to apprehend vigilantes. Moreover, he assembled his own team of villains, including Crossbones, Taskmaster, Typhoid Mary, Shocker, Whiplash, Rhino, and Kraven, known as the Thunderbolts. However, Daredevil and his allies managed to thwart Kingpin’s plans, eventually leading to Luke Cage taking over as Mayor of New York City.
As a die-hard movie enthusiast, I’m super excited to share some insights about the anticipated “Daredevil: Born Again”. Showrunner Dario Scardapane has been spilling the beans regarding the intensity of violence we can expect from this upcoming series, and it’s set to outdo the level of brutality we saw in the Netflix version of Daredevil. Buckle up, folks! It’s going to be a wild ride!
As I sat down to pen my thoughts on the latest Marvel/Disney series, I couldn’t help but marvel at the extraordinary level of violence it presents. In all my years reviewing for Empire Magazine, I’ve yet to encounter anything quite as intense or unconventional. There’s a particular scene that left me utterly stunned, a moment so mind-blowingly outrageous, it surpasses anything Netflix has ever dared to show. Brace yourselves, folks, this one’s not for the faint of heart!
Vincent D’Onofrio, one of the stars, remarked, “There could have been a scenario where, if that series continued, we might have ended up somewhere similar. But we’ve ventured deeper into the realms of mystery, intensity, and ugliness instead.
It’s yet undetermined if the clampdown on vigilantes in the MCU will expand beyond its current scope in upcoming productions. Given that Daredevil: Born Again is slated for multiple seasons, the vigilante-centric narrative doesn’t have to end with Season 1. There’s ample opportunity for the story to evolve and explore various paths, making each season of Daredevil: Born Again even more captivating.
Daredevil: Born Again debuts with a two-episode premiere on March 4th on Disney+.
