Daredevil: Born Again Star Charlie Cox Recalls Assuming Series Would Never Return, "It's Definitely Over"

As a long-time Marvel fan and someone who has followed Charlie Cox’s Daredevil journey since its inception on Netflix, I can say that the news of his return to the MCU felt like a dream come true. I was one of those fans who thought that the Defenders-verse had met its end, so the revelation that not only would Daredevil be back, but also other beloved characters such as Kingpin, Karen Page, Foggy Nelson, and even Punisher, was truly exhilarating.

As a hardcore Marvel gamer, I couldn’t believe my luck when Marvel Studios decided to incorporate Charlie Cox’s Daredevil into the MCU. But let me tell you, no one was more stunned than the man behind the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen himself. You see, after Disney parted ways with Netflix and the Defenders-verse shows got axed, it seemed like our favorite heroes had no future ahead. Thankfully, things have taken a dramatic turn for the better in recent years.

In a continuation of his Daredevil character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Charlie Cox was seen in “Spider-Man: No Way Home” and “She-Hulk”, while Vincent D’Onofrio portrayed Kingpin in “Hawkeye” and “Echo”. For the upcoming series “Daredevil: Born Again“, it has been officially announced that Deborah Ann Woll, Elden Henson, and Jon Bernthal will reprise their roles from the Netflix version of Daredevil.

In an unexpected twist, Cox was taken aback because he firmly thought his portrayal of Daredevil had come to its end. In a recent chat with People, Cox disclosed that he had relinquished all expectations of a reprise until he received a call from Kevin Feige in 2020, discussing the possibility of his Marvel resurgence.

“Cox stated that he had fully released any attachment to the matter,” explained Cox. “Occasionally, Vincent and I would have conversations, and he would remark things like ‘I think they’re going to call us. They’re going to choose us,'” said Cox, shaking his head. “After our talks, I would hang up and think, ‘He’s clearly lost touch with reality! He needs to let go. It’s been a decade, and he’s still holding on. It’s over. It’s definitely over.'”

The much-anticipated series “Daredevil: Born Again” will premiere exclusively on Disney+ in March 2025. So, fans have a bit of waiting to do until they can catch their favorite Daredevil actors back in action, but the trailer for the show shouldn’t be too far off.

The video displayed numerous well-known characters from Daredevil series engaging in action, and it also verified the “Mayor Fisk” plot where Kingpin attempts to secure the position of New York City Mayor. Moreover, it was confirmed that White Tiger will be included in the show, thereby making her part of the extensive Marvel Cinematic Universe.

There isn’t a timeline for the public release of the Daredevil: Born Again trailer just yet.
