As a longtime Marvel fan and avid Daredevil enthusiast who has followed Matt Murdock’s journey through Hell’s Kitchen since its inception, I am beyond excited for the upcoming Disney+ series, “Daredevil: Born Again.” The new red suit and glowing eyes are an electrifying addition to Charlie Cox’s hero, and it seems that the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen is ready to switch up his identity.
In the debut sneak peek of “Daredevil: Born Again,” it hints at various outfits Matt Murdock will don throughout the Disney+ series. In the recent Marvel 85th anniversary video, fans got an up-close look at Daredevil’s new red suit and glowing eyes. This marks a departure from his last appearance in the MCU, where Charlie Cox’s character was seen in all black, investigating Wilson Fisk’s activities during his brief stint in “Echo.” As a result, the Man without Fear seems to be going through an identity transformation – or more accurately, a costume change. (It should be noted that Daredevil’s appearance in “Echo” was a flashback sequence.)
Recently at D23, Marvel Studios unveiled additional footage of the upcoming series Daredevil: Born Again. One intriguing aspect from the trailer sparked online discussions – Matt Murdock possesses various helmets for different outfits in his wardrobe. It appears that the Disney+ show will feature Daredevil donning multiple appearances, and a recent sneak peek supports this theory. Although it was presumed there would be some lens involvement, the glowing eyes add an exciting element that further increases anticipation.
Brad Winderbaum, the head at Marvel Animation, hinted at additional details for “Daredevil: Born Again” during a recent interview on The Official Marvel Podcast. Similar to how “X-Men ’97” drew inspiration from the past, this show seems to have greatly benefited as well. Fans of the Netflix “Daredevil” series should be excited by all the buzz surrounding “Born Again”.
Winderbaum explained that Daredevil is remarkably like X-Men ’97 as it brings back something cherished by the fans, but it’s also venturing into uncharted territories. The characters have grown over time, and the world they inhabit has evolved too. There are new dynamics at play now. Society isn’t the same as before, and neither are Matt and Wilson. Their paths will cross in ways we haven’t witnessed earlier. It’s not just about trying to kill each other anymore; there’s a complex web of politics involved.
Will We See The Yellow Again?
As a devoted fan, I couldn’t contain my excitement when She-Hulk introduced Daredevil into the action! And let me tell you, it was an absolute treat to slip into the iconic yellow and red costume, reminiscent of the early comic book adventures. Recently, I shared my enthusiasm with Variety, discussing the joy of donning that suit and the delightful surprise of finding out that a throwback look was part of the plan!
In simpler terms, Cox stated that prior to filming, they sent him to Los Angeles to have his suit adjusted, believing it was necessary because the old one would still fit. Upon arriving at this warehouse, he spotted his familiar suit hanging on a rack, which he had previously worn in the series.
The star went on saying, “As I stood there waiting, I noticed a digitally-created portrait of another superhero adorning the wall. I casually glanced at it, thinking ‘Wow, that guy’s impressive.’ But upon closer inspection, I realized to my surprise, ‘Hold up, that’s me!’ It depicted a golden and red suit, leaving me awestruck with excitement. ‘Oh my goodness, this is amazing,’ I thought, feeling a thrill run through me. The design was a tribute to some iconic Daredevil storylines from the past, just thinking about it now gives me goosebumps, imagining how the fans would respond when they saw me wearing it.”
