Charlie Cox expresses enthusiasm about his Daredevil character potentially reaching major heights in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). In a recent conversation with SFX Magazine, Cox shared his anticipation for Matt Murdock’s journey now that he is more deeply connected to the MCU. He acknowledged that his tenure as a superhero has been somewhat unusual given the prolonged gap between Netflix’s Daredevil cancellation and the upcoming premiere of Daredevil: Born Again on Disney+, set for March 4th. With the suit back on, Cox is hopeful for increased screen time within the MCU and perhaps even a collaboration with the Avengers.
Cox expressed his gratitude for being able to continue playing the character, stating he feels revitalized, fortunate, and grateful. He mentioned that acting roles like this are rare because they offer a wide range of tasks. As a lawyer, he gets to experience cool, challenging situations, share emotional scenes with multiple love interests, and even wear an amazing superhero costume while leaping from rooftops. Overall, he enjoys every aspect of it.
In my case, after nine years of portraying this character, most actors are starting to ease off, but not me! It’s intriguing to ponder which will falter first – Marvel’s confidence in us or our physical endurance!
When asked if a collaboration with the Avengers might occur, Cox simply expressed his excitement by saying, “That would be fantastic.” Given that actors usually tread carefully when responding to such queries, we can only wonder if Cox is holding back some information at present. So far, any involvement of Daredevil in future MCU projects has been skillfully concealed.
Initially, Netflix-produced series like “Daredevil” and the “Defenders” series were technically linked to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), yet they maintained a certain distance. As Disney took a more active role in producing original content for Disney+, fans eagerly demanded that the Defenders join this new platform. After a lengthy wait with occasional hints, they’re now returning under their own title.
In the series “Daredevil: Reborn,” Charlie Cox once again takes on the role of Daredevil, with Vincent D’Onofrio as Wilson Fisk (Kingpin) and Jon Bernthal as the Punisher. As for other cast members returning, that information hasn’t been disclosed yet. At this point, there are no known plans to introduce the remaining Defenders into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but given that the Multiverse Saga is nearing its conclusion in Phase 4, some unexpected events may transpire. The premiere of “Daredevil: Reborn” is set for March 4th on Disney+.
