Charlie Cox and Krysten Ritter are teaming up for training sessions since Ritter has joined the cast of “Daredevil: Born Again” Season 2. The actress will resume her character, Jessica Jones, in the upcoming season, which is currently being filmed. As she’s been away from the Marvel Cinematic Universe for a while, she needs to be well-prepared for challenging stunts. On Tuesday, renowned fitness trainer Naqam Washington shared a gym selfie with Cox and Ritter, taken in Brooklyn. It appears that they met up for a workout after a lengthy day of filming. Given that “Born Again” Season 2 is already under production, these superheroes are putting in plenty of hard work.
Washington playfully declared, ‘I must be the most secure man in New York!’ With Daredevil and Jessica Jones watching over me, exercising at the gym even after long filming days. My job brings me joy and I’m thankful for being a part of it!
In the post, Washington highlighted both Ritter and Cox, along with their high-end training gym located in Williamsburg, New York City – a fitting setting for “Born Again” as it’s filmed there too. Ritter later shared Washington’s post on her social media, signaling her upcoming return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
In the beginning, Daredevil: Born Again received an order for 18 episodes, indicating a second season was imminent, which helped alleviate some of the disappointment when characters like Jessica Jones were absent from the premiere. Recently, Disney confirmed Ritter’s return at a gathering earlier this month. However, it remains unclear how much screen time she will have or how significant her role will be in the narrative. The observation that she is training with Cox in the gym has led many viewers to speculate that Jessica Jones may get more attention in the storyline.
Compared to “Born Again” Season 1, Jon Bernthal’s character, The Punisher, was heavily featured, but some viewers felt that he didn’t get enough screen time in the end. Furthermore, it has left many fans questioning why each Defender character is being gradually reintroduced instead of having them all return at once. As of now, there hasn’t been any solid discussion about resurrecting Luke Cage or Iron Fist, nor have there been talks regarding the supporting characters from those Netflix series.
Marvel TV executive Brad Winderbaum appears to have addressed these issues in a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter. Essentially, he emphasized the importance of taking things slow and focusing on telling the best possible story. While it’s thrilling to imagine characters interacting, the ‘why’ behind their interactions is crucial. At times, we’ve nailed this approach, but there have been instances where we’ve rushed. The narrative should always guide the direction.
Currently, production for “Daredevil: Reborn” Season 2 is underway, set to premiere in March 2026. You can catch up on Season 1 as well as all the Defenders series on Disney+ right now.
