In a new turn of events, Daredevil, portrayed by Charlie Cox, once again takes on his dark persona. Initially appearing as a masked figure in black during the first season of Marvel’s Daredevil, he later adopted the specially crafted Daredevil suit by Melvin Potter (Matt Gerald). As the vigilante guardian of Hell’s Kitchen, Matt Murdock dons the red cowl and armored suit to confront villains such as the Kingpin (Vincent D’Onofrio), the Punisher (Jon Bernthal), the ninja death cult the Hand, and most recently, the serial killer artist Muse. The latest development unfolds in episode 6 of Daredevil: Born Again.
In the upcoming second season of the Disney+ series, images that have leaked online suggest that Daredevil will don a sleek all-black version of his traditional costume, featuring the “DD” emblem for the first time. It seems that he is under threat from Mayor Fisk’s Anti-Vigilante Task Force. The photos depict an intense action sequence involving the A.V.T.F., which resembles a S.W.A.T. team, and Daredevil in his black armor, wreaking havoc on Fisk’s corrupt police officers, who are distinguishable by their misused Punisher symbols.

The hood, the glowing red eyes, the emblem, the lingering red stains on the outfit, and the overall layout – they put in an immense effort to create this design.

As a follower, I’m excited to share that, based on what I’ve gathered from the clapboard, the photos you see are from the premiere of the Aaron Moorhead and Justin Benson-directed second season of our show (which was filmed under the working title “Out The Kitchen 2”). This talented duo has previously directed episodes for shows like “Moon Knight” and “Loki”, and they will be directing episodes 8 and 9, as well as the April 15 season finale for the upcoming series “Born Again”.
In an exclusive chat with ComicBook prior to the show’s debut, I (as a fan) got a sneak peek at Cox hinting at the “DD” insignia and the possibility of several Daredevil costumes!
Daredevil’s Black Suit, Explained
Daredevil Black Armor Suit
During the “Fall From Grace” storyline, Daredevil switched to wearing a black armor suit. His previous red costume was destroyed in battles against fire-wielding mercenary, The Crippler, and Silver Sable. Later in 1993, in issue #321 of Daredevil, he introduced the red and black armor to battle supernatural foes like Hellspawn, the Snakeroot sect of the Hand, and Spider-Man villains Venom and Morbius.
1995 saw Daredevil donning his iconic red suit again in issue #345, but he’ll switch back to his black armor in issue #20 of the continuous Daredevil series penned by Saladin Ahmed and José Luis Soares, slated for release in April.
Daredevil Shadowland Suit
In the comic series “Daredevil: Born Again,” the character’s black suit is similar to the one he wore during his Shadowland phase when he led the Hand. This black-suited Daredevil, featuring a red “DD” emblem, red eyes, and a holster for his billy club, was the one who killed Bullseye using his own sai in issue #1 of Shadowland. However, it was later disclosed that Matt had been influenced by the Beast, a demonic entity revered by the ninja cult, during this period.
All-New, All-Different Daredevil Suit
After being liberated from the Beast’s control, Matt decided to leave Hell’s Kitchen behind and move to San Francisco. When Daredevil returned to the Kitchen in the 2015 issue #1 of Daredevil, he was seen wearing a revised Shadowland suit. This new suit was primarily black but had red accents, which included a red belt, red boots, and red boxing-style wrist bands.
During Charles Soule’s writing of the Daredevil series (where Muse, an Inhuman serial killer artist, was first introduced), Daredevil wore his black suit continuously until issue #21. This special issue saw Daredevil teaming up with street-level defenders Luke Cage and Maya Lopez/Echo.
