Daredevil’s Shocking Reunion: Elektra’s Dark Secret in a Dystopian Future!

The latest “Daredevil” comic is set in a dismal future, yet an acquainted figure steps in to prevent Old Man Matt Murdock from suffering severe beatings. It’s always exciting to explore how our beloved characters and adversaries fare in distinct, alternate timeframes, and this sentiment certainly applies to “Daredevil: Cold Day In Hell”. A captivating enigma has been introduced, leaving us curious about the whereabouts of figures such as Captain America, Punisher, and Bullseye. As Daredevil prepares for a return to his vigilante ways, he’ll require every ounce of assistance to avoid meeting his end. This aid arrives in the form of an old flame. Note: Spoiler alert for Daredevil: Cold Day In Hell #2.

Issue #2 of “Daredevil: Cold Day In Hell” hails from the gifted team of Charles Soule, Steve McNiven, Dean White, and Clayton Cowles on art duties. In the inaugural installment, Matt Murdock reclaimed his extraordinary powers following a lengthy hero retirement. A blast in a subway tunnel reignited Daredevil’s abilities, with Captain America making the ultimate sacrifice to safeguard a secretive young girl, who was at the heart of a devastating terrorist act. The villain orchestrating all this chaos is none other than Daredevil’s longtime adversary, Bullseye.

Matt Murdock, wearing a makeshift Daredevil suit, pursues a group of terrorists who managed to escape using his heightened senses. His investigation eventually leads him to Times Square, where an enigmatic woman releases a brilliant flash of light before collapsing. Daredevil arrives shortly after Bullseye’s henchmen snatch her away in a hijacked ambulance. A fierce battle ensues when he catches up with them, but the odds are overwhelming for the aging hero. However, all seems lost until three ninja throwing stars from Elektra take out one of the shooters.

Elektra Saves Old Man Daredevil, But Something’s Different About Her

In contrast to Daredevil, who appears elderly, Elektra seems unchanged by time. With ease, she disarms (and beheads) their adversaries, but spares one henchman for questioning. Instead, Elektra strikes Daredevil, hitting him hard with the hilt of her katana and orders the henchman to return to his master and warn them. Despite the long years that have passed since they last met, Daredevil can tell from Elektra’s voice and demeanor that she hasn’t aged a bit.

Although Daredevil’s newly regained abilities won’t last indefinitely, they’re rapidly fading from him, pushing him to accomplish something significant with the time he has left. Elektra approaches Daredevil not about the bomb and missing girl, but to present an opportunity for Daredevil to attain the immortality she now enjoys. This implies that Elektra may have struck a bargain with some dark entity such as The Hand for extended life. A glowing star and skull symbol suggest that Captain America and Punisher (being tormented by Bullseye) might be connected to Daredevil’s past recollections, specifically Wilson Fisk’s demise.

The group that Daredevil is pursuing goes by the name of Triple Ring. This organization takes orders from both Daredevil’s and Elektra’s former ally, Bullseye. Bullseye has captured a mysterious woman and has her connected to a device that seems to draw energy from her. Foggy Nelson informs Daredevil about a government-backed initiative known as the New Warriors project, which is what Bullseye appears to be targeting. This project aimed to create superhumans through experiments with super-soldier serum and gamma radiation. A large quantity of this material is stored in an underground bunker, and it looks like Bullseye has obtained it.
