As a seasoned adventurer who’s delved into the darkest corners of gaming worlds, I can hardly contain my excitement for Red Hook Studios’ latest offering, Darkest Dungeon 2! The prospect of new content, especially the upcoming Kingdoms module and the Inhuman Bondage DLC, has me itching to don my armor once more.
Red Hook Studios’ “Darkest Dungeon 2” recently became available on other platforms, but there’s more excitement brewing about its free, standalone campaign titled “Kingdoms.” In a recent update on Steam, the developers shared that “Kingdoms” will be rolled out in three separate modules. The first module, “Hunger of the Beast Clan,” is expected to debut in Q4 2024.
Each module focuses on a different threat, the first introducing the Beastmen for players to deal with as they defend the realm and upgrade Inns. However, launching alongside this is a new paid DLC, Inhuman Bondage. It brings a new bonus region comparable in size to The Sluice – the Catacombs – with new enemies (described as “corrosive” and “oozing”) and items.
In both Kingdoms and the main game, you’ll find this region offers a balance between “great danger and potential riches.” It also introduces a fresh hero whose specifics are yet to be revealed. This mystery figure comes equipped with “one-of-a-kind” abilities, Trinkets, color schemes, weapon sets, and a captivating backstory. Keep an eye out for further updates in the upcoming months.
The sequel to “Darkest Dungeon” can now be played on platforms including Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, PC, and Nintendo Switch. Feel free to read our review of the initial release version right here.
