Dave Coulier is not taking anything for granted.
Over the past two months since my beloved Full House star announced his stage 3 Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma diagnosis – a formidable battle against blood cancer that affects the lymph nodes – I’ve been eagerly following his courageous treatment journey. Recently, he opened up about his experiences, delving into the challenges and side effects of undergoing chemotherapy, making me even more invested in his inspiring fight.
Inspired by a meme saying, “If you’re not currently sniffling, take a moment to truly admire that,” the 65-year-old agreed wholeheartedly, as he found himself echoing those sentiments at this very moment.
On the January 10th episode of their “Full House Rewind” podcast, Dave expressed to Marla Sokoloff that he wished it was just his nose that was running, as it had been quite a turbulent journey with various symptoms.
He explained, “The side effects of one medication can lead to more side effects. So, you’re often given another drug to counteract those, creating a sort of mix that your body is constantly trying to adapt to. It’s like a never-ending balancing act: ‘How am I coping with the steroids? How am I dealing with the chemotherapy mix? And then, how am I handling all these additional factors?’
One beneficial aspect for Dave during his recuperation has been listening to others share their own experiences with the illness.
As a lifestyle expert, let me share my insights with you, Marla. I’ve had the unfortunate privilege of meeting numerous individuals whose lives have been impacted by cancer. I firmly believe that words of support and encouragement can truly make a difference in their challenging journeys.
The performer, who has received support from his longtime friend and co-star John Stamos, expresses hope that the challenging periods he’s experiencing might serve as a reminder for people to prioritize prevention and remain vigilant about early cancer detection.
If I must endure a period of discomfort for several months, well, so be it,” the comedian asserted. “However, if sharing my experience can encourage others to undergo colonoscopies, early screenings, or mammograms – which are crucial for early detection – then it’s definitely worth it.
Regardless of the circumstances, Dave – who tied the knot with Melissa Coulier in 2014 – has revealed that he’s embraced a fresh perspective on life, discovering tranquility in knowing he’s led a rich and fulfilling existence.
In a conversation with Today.com in November, he shared that he’s mysteriously at peace with any news, even if it’s incredibly grim. He admitted that he can’t pinpoint the source of this unusual calmness.
He went on to say, “My life has been truly remarkable, filled with extraordinary individuals. This voyage has been nothing short of breathtaking, and I find peace knowing that it may be reaching its conclusion.

In my experience, as a lifestyle advisor, I’ve learned that some conditions don’t have a cure, and this reality shapes every choice I make. It’s like carrying an invisible burden that can sometimes feel overwhelming, much like the weight of ten tons. For a while, I found it hard to accept this truth, choosing instead to deny its existence. But, acknowledging and accepting it has been a crucial step in my journey towards understanding and managing my situation effectively.
