In a new docuseries, David Suchet is set to tread where the illustrious author Agatha Christie trod before, and it’s now officially slated to premiere on More4.
The project was revealed approximately a year back, coinciding with the announcement that the previous actor portraying Poirot had taken up the unique path similar to Christie’s initial career trajectory.
Suchet aims to develop a profound grasp of the author whose work he deeply appreciates and is well-acquainted with, given his over two decades of portraying her renowned French detective character.
On Wednesday, 21st May 2025, at 9 pm, you’ll have the opportunity to watch how that mission unfolds when “Travels with Agatha” featuring Sir David Suchet debuts on More4.
Upon the unveiling of the project, Suchet expressed that Christie would be a constant companion, whispering encouragement in his ear to convey her enthusiasm for learning, exploration, archaeology, and, undeniably, the enigma that captivated her.
Following the conclusion of his journey, he pondered (as reported by Deadline): “I discovered the essence of a girl who adored surfing, who cherished socializing, and surprisingly, when her initial tales were released, she was willing to participate in press interviews.
1. “Her spirit was lively. While aboard the vessel, she openly documented in her journal that she stayed awake late into the night with one of the ship’s officers. The Agatha Christie novel I encountered during my voyage seemed cheerful. There was a playful, flirtatious undertone to her.”
2. “She was full of life and energy. On the ship, she openly recorded in her diary that she spent hours into the wee hours with one of the officers on board. The Agatha Christie book I encountered during my travels seemed joyful. She had a touch of playfulness and flirtation about her.”
3. “She was vibrant and spirited. On board the ship, she openly jotted down in her diary that she spent hours late into the night with one of the officers on board. The Agatha Christie novel I encountered during my journey seemed cheerful. There was a hint of playfulness and flirtation in her.”

He concluded: “I wish I’d met her.”
Lately, Suchet has made his comeback on-screen following a long break, sharing the limelight with Sally Bretton from Beyond Paradise in Channel 5’s suspenseful series The Au Pair this year.
As a fan following the footsteps of the actor, I’ve heard him express that he wouldn’t take on the role of Poirot in a story penned by anyone other than Agatha Christie. However, there’s an exception to this rule – he shows keen interest in revisiting “The ABC Murders” as a standalone film, a project inspired by ITV’s 1992 adaptation, which was one of his earlier roles.
