Day Off

2024 sees the grand return of the popular anime “Kaiju No. 8,” with previews of Soshiro Hoshina’s character before his anticipated appearance in Season 2 and a new special episode. The anime, created by Naoya Matsumoto, was one of the most eagerly awaited debuts of 2024, and its success led to an immediate renewal for further episodes. Last year, it was confirmed that Season 2 would air later in 2024, but there’s more – Hoshina will also receive a special treatment.

Soshiro Hoshina, who serves as Vice-Captain in the Third Division, is set to feature in a unique, original anime episode titled “Hoshina’s Day Off,” preceding the arrival of Kaiju No. 8 Season 2. This upcoming special, along with the fresh batch of episodes slated for release later this year, promises an exciting time for fans of Kaiju No. 8. In the recently released promo for the anime, Hoshina can be seen enjoying his day off, hinting at a promising season to come. You can watch it below.

When Does Kaiju No. 8 Season 2 Come Out?

The second season of “Kaiju No. 8” is being developed and is expected to air in July, as part of the Summer 2025 anime lineup. Moreover, Koki Uchiyama has been added to the cast, voicing Gen Narumi, a character who made his appearance in the final episode of the first season but will have a more prominent role in Season 2 and beyond. Starting from March 28th, a special recap of the first season will be screened in select Japanese theaters for three weeks. The international release date for this compilation is yet to be confirmed at the time of writing.

In the run-up to Season 2, “Kaiju No. 8” will present a fresh episode entitled “Hoshina’s Day Off.” This special installment is penned by Yuto Tsukuda, the brain behind “Food Wars! Shokugeki no Soma,” and scripted by Yuichiro Kido. In this episode, our protagonist Reno enjoys a day off only to cross paths with Hoshina. Curious about what the Vice-Captain is doing on his free time, Reno’s encounters with Hoshina promise more screen time for this character following the events of the first season, much to the delight of fans.
