This is a challenging time for our team, yet we harbor deep admiration for all who contributed to reaching this point. In their official announcement, Bend Studio explains they are moving on to their next undertaking.

According to a report by Jason Schreier, a journalist at Bloomberg, the team behind the game Days Gone, Bend Studio, has been affected by layoffs, resulting in approximately 40 employees losing their jobs, which equates to about 30% of the workforce.

According to a recent post by Bluesky, Schreier reported that Sony’s Bend Studio, which previously cancelled a live-service game this year, is letting go of approximately 30% of its staff (around 40 people) as of today. It seems the studio has been focusing on a new project since the cancellation of their previous one.

According to the report by Bloomberg, both Bend Studio and Bluepoint Games, known for their work on live-service projects and remakes respectively, had a project cancelled that seemed to be related to God of War. However, specifics about what Bend Studio’s project entailed have yet to be disclosed.

During the instances of cancellations, Sony communicated that they would collaborate with both teams to figure out future projects and expressed their intention to take all necessary steps to lessen any potential business repercussions. Fast forward approximately six months, it is now rumored that Bend Studio has experienced a 30% reduction in its overall workforce.

The developer has just re-launched its most successful game, Days Gone, in an enhanced version for PS5, making this the ultimate console edition of the game. At present, it’s unclear what their next project will be, but starting soon, they’ll be developing it without the involvement of approximately 40 employees who have recently been let go.
