DC Announces New Metamorpho Series Ahead of Live-Action Debut

As a lifelong DC fan who has been following Rex Mason’s transformative journey through various mediums, I couldn’t be more excited about the upcoming “Metamorpho: The Element Man” series! With Al Ewing at the helm and Steve Lieber on art duties, this series promises to deliver a wild, fun ride that stays true to the spirit of the character.

Following many years of entertaining DC comics enthusiasts, the character Rex Mason, also known as Metamorpho, is now set to make his big-screen debut next year in James Gunn’s Superman movie, played by Anthony Carrigan. It seems a new comic book series for Metamorpho is being released to commemorate this event. On Friday, DC officially announced an ongoing Metamorpho series written by Al Ewing with artwork by Steve Lieber, colors by Lee Loughridge and lettering by Ferran Delgado. This new series, titled “Metamorpho: The Element Man,” is part of DC’s All-In initiative and will launch on Christmas Day, December 25th. The first issue will feature a main cover from Steve Lieber, with additional variant covers by Erica Henderson, Ian Bertram, and Steve Beach.

Ewing stated, “These comics are pure, unadulterated fun! They’re filled with complete assurance, raw excitement, and zero self-consciousness. It’s a heartfelt tribute to Bob Haney, Ramona Fradon, and the eccentric superhero spirit at its zenith. Our goal is to capture the essential, vibrant quirkiness of Metamorpho, like capturing lightning in a bottle, and express it in our unique, swinging style.

What Is Metamorpho: The Element Man About?

In the comic book series “Metamorpho: The Element Man,” it’s hard not to adore the character once you get to know him. He is none other than Rex Mason, also known as Metamorpho, but can even he triumph over Cy.C.L.O.P.S., the sinister figure at the top of the criminal world who watches from the pop charts’ pinnacle to the depths of evil and even into the distant, otherworldly Ra-Realm? To discover his fate, Metamorpho the Element Man must navigate through a series of challenges, starting with an assassin skilled enough to mirror his powers… and this is just the beginning of his trials!

Ewing explained, “Our interpretation of traditional DC comics is what you’ll find here. Each standalone issue will keep avid Metamaniacs on edge month by month, leading towards a revelation so extraordinary it could potentially send a specific shape-shifter into an unknown destination! Who exactly is the ominous Mr. 3? What dark secret lies behind Sugar Sweet? Who becomes the focus of Vandal Savage’s ancient revenge? These outlandish mysteries and many more will be unraveled in the New Age of Metamorpho – it’s our holiday gift to you!
