DC Reveals Absolute Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman Variant Covers

As a seasoned comic book enthusiast with over two decades of collecting under my belt, I must say that this lineup of Absolute DC comics is nothing short of breathtaking. Each variant cover showcases a unique artistic style that brings these iconic characters to life in their absolute form.

For each of the first three titles in the Absolute Universe series – Absolute Superman, Absolute Batman, and Absolute Wonder Woman – DC has provided multiple unique covers. The initial cover for each book is designed by DC’s publisher Jim Lee, while Deadly Class artist Wes Craig contributes another cover. Additionally, there are three more variations available, one of which features a foil logo similar to the Superman and Batman books that were released at San Diego Comic-Con last month.

As a long-time DC Comics fan, I find it refreshing to see the latest changes they’ve made to their visual identity. Having grown up with the classic DC bullet logo and the familiar top-left corner boxes, moving them to the top right is a thoughtful update that feels both modern and nostalgic at the same time. It’s clear that the creators have taken great care in preserving the essence of the original design while also making it feel fresh and contemporary. This small tweak adds a new layer of excitement for me as a fan, and I can’t wait to see how these changes will be incorporated into future DC projects.

In this exciting venture, I, as a gamer, am thrilled to be part of Snyder’s mission, aiding DC in launching a fresh universe titled “Absolute DC.” This new realm will breathe life into contemporary interpretations of their cherished characters, maintaining the essence that we all love while modernizing it. Unlike the 2011 New 52 initiative, our goal here is not to scrap the existing DC Universe but to establish a parallel universe that can harmoniously coexist alongside it.

Snyder mentioned, “We’ve been developing this for what seems like ages.” However, he clarified that in reality, it has been approximately two years in the making, with most of the work done privately.

Later on, he mentioned, “Our aim is to provide you with an exceptional starting point, one that hasn’t been seen in a very long time.”

The three launch problems will also include a “foil design alternative,” showcasing the fresh emblems for each of DC’s revamped Absolute Trinity. The first issue of Absolute Batman is set to release on October 9, the first issue of Absolute Wonder Woman follows on October 23, and the first issue of Absolute Superman will be available on November 6.

The first issue will be available with a primary cover designed by Rafa Sandoval and Ulises Arreola, as well as variant covers by Wes Craig and Mike Spicer, Jim Lee, Scott Williams and Alex Sinclair, Clayton Crain, and Matteo Scalera (1:25).
