James Gunn and John Cena have disclosed a major sneak peek that DC Studios is planning to unveil at the San Diego Comic-Con happening this summer. The pair discussed Season 2 of ‘Peacemaker’ in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, hinting at various aspects of the upcoming series before its premiere on August 21st. They hinted that a new dance scene will replace the opening credits from Season 1 and confirmed that this is one of the previews fans can expect to see during San Diego Comic-Con in July. The convention takes place from Thursday, July 24th to Sunday, July 27th, this year.
The first season of Peacemaker kicked off each episode with an intricately coordinated robot-like dance routine synchronized to the song “Do You Wanna Taste It” by Wig Wam. This captivating opening act drew in many viewers who weren’t initially interested in this superhero spin-off, and it quickly gained popularity beyond just the show’s audience on social media. Gunn has promised Entertainment Weekly that there’s another dance scene coming our way sooner than anticipated.
He shared that you’ll witness Eagly attempting his first dance – quite an event! While he’s not exactly graceful, he makes an effort and even attempts a few moves towards the end of the dance sequence. This time, he’s even tried out a new pose.
This time, everyone seems to be viewing it from unique perspectives, considering how well the first one was received by the audience, Cena noted. Since this is a crucial part of the show, we’re diving right in. Everyone performed exceptionally well in season 1, but I believe the significance of it will become more apparent now and hopefully, it shows in season 2.
Gunn humorously explained why they opted for a fresh opening credit sequence instead of reusing the previous one. He pointed out that since everyone perished at the end of the last season, it was necessary to make a new one. Moreover, there are several new cast members this time around, including Tim Meadows as Langston Fleury, Sol Rodriguez as Sasha Bordeaux, and Michael Rooker. Plus, Judomaster will have a more significant role in the upcoming season, necessitating a fresh dance sequence.
Gunn disclosed that the fresh credits will incorporate a novel melody, however, he expressed his inner turmoil regarding this decision. “I oscillated back and forth quite a bit,” he confessed. “Ultimately, I opted for a tune that subtly aligns with the season’s theme.
By San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC), Superman will already be gracing the big screens as the DC Universe will be in high gear. This could give us a clearer picture of what to expect in Peacemaker Season 2, and how the newly introduced characters might fit into the storyline. Superman is set to hit theaters on July 11th, while Peacemaker makes its debut on Max on August 21st.
