During a recent chat with one of the franchise’s leading actors, it emerged that James Gunn’s DC Universe will have a substantial presence at Comic-Con 2025. The new direction that Gunn is giving to the interconnected DC movie universe is poised to make a big impact, as the eagerly anticipated Superman film, due for release on July 11 next year, marks its grand entrance onto the silver screen. While fans will finally get to see Superman in action soon, they’re already excited about more updates from DC Studios at the upcoming San Diego Comic-Con 2025.
It appears that John Cena, who stars in the series “Peacemaker,” may have unintentionally revealed that DC Studios and the DC Universe will definitely attend Comic-Con 2025. Previously, in 2024, the superhero franchise was present at the event, but they chose to display their titles independently through separate panels spread throughout the weekend rather than having a joint presentation. James Gunn’s “Superman” was also missing from the lineup that year.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly about the upcoming second season of Max’s Peacemaker series, Cena hinted that fans would catch a glimpse of the show’s fresh introductory scene (as a follow-up to the now-iconic dance sequence from Season 1) during San Diego Comic-Con.
For the first time, it has been confirmed that DC University (DCU) and DC Studios will participate in the upcoming event, taking place from July 24th to 27th at the San Diego Convention Center.
There’s some ambiguity about whether the Blue Brand will appear in a comprehensive panel similar to Marvel Studios’ Hall H presentations, or if they will be featured across their different upcoming projects instead.
2024 marked a change for the studio as they divided their Comic-Con showcase across different titles. This included debuting a trailer for Creature Commandos and offering a glimpse into Season 1 of The Penguin. Instead of presenting everything together in a grand event celebrating the new direction of the brand under Gunn, they held separate panels dedicated to each title.
