DC Studios Unveils Exciting New Animated Series: Green Lantern and Teen Titans Spin-Off!

Three new DC superheroes, including a Green Lantern, a Green Martian, and one from Tamaran, are set to debut in the animated universe of DC. Two years after James Gunn and Peter Safran, co-heads of DC Studios, announced a lineup of ten projects for the DC Universe, which initially included only an adult animated series called “Creature Commandos”, they have now unveiled three younger-oriented shows that have been approved: “DC’s Super Powers”, a spinoff titled “Starfire” focusing on the Teen Titans, and “My Adventures with Green Lantern”.

At a press conference on the Warner Bros. lot, Gunn and Safran revealed details about several projects, including updates on the live-action, R-rated Clayface movie, season 2 of Peacemaker, the postponed Authority film, and halted productions such as Waller and Booster Gold. Additionally, they announced a series of family-friendly short films featuring Superman’s canine companion, Krypto the Super-Dog.

Gunn expressed that he doesn’t want these characters to fade away; instead, he aims to create fresh narratives and breathe new life into them. His goal is to present these characters to future generations. I believe we’re making progress, though it may take time.

The studio intends to launch at least two live-action films and one animated film, as well as two live-action and two animated TV series every year. Among the projects already approved by DC Studios are season 2 of “Creature Commandos” and an animated movie titled “Dynamic Duo,” featuring Dick Grayson and Jason Todd. Additionally, they are currently working on a sequel for the animated “Blue Beetle” series, starring Xolo Maridueña as Jaime Reyes in the voice role.

As a passionate lover of animation, I’m thrilled to share that I, Sam Register, am executive producing three exciting new animated shows set to be brought to life by DC Studios and Warner Bros. Animation. Over the years as President of Warner Bros. Animation, Cartoon Network Studios, and Hanna-Barbera Studios Europe since April 2014, I’ve had the privilege of overseeing a diverse range of projects. From the grittier adult-oriented series like Batman: Caped Crusader, Creature Commandos, and Harley Quinn, to the anime-inspired My Adventures with Superman, fan-loved shows such as Young Justice and Beware the Batman, and family-friendly hits like Teen Titans Go!, DC Super Hero Girls, and Batwheels. I can’t wait to see what stories these new shows will bring to life!

DC Super Powers

The story unfolds at the Alliance School for Heroes, where DC Super Powers follows a group of fresh students – Lightning, Flash, Plastic Man, Aquagirl, Green Lantern, and Terra. These young heroes are learning to enhance their abilities under the watchful eye of Principal Martian Manhunter, with the ultimate goal of eventually growing into Earth’s future protectors.

Matthew Beans serves as the executive producer, while Michael Chang takes on the role of supervising producer in the projects “Robot Chicken DC Comics Special II: Villains in Paradise” and “Trolls: The Beat Goes On!”.

Starfire

The cosmic journey of Starfire, the Tamaran-born Teen Titan and alien princess Koriand’r, begins with her utilizing an antique spaceship from her home planet to traverse the stars. During her interstellar expedition, she encounters space biker Crush, Fern who nurtures flora, and the enchanting Princess Amethyst of Gemworld. United, they will delve into the heart of the DC universe, rescue Space Dolphins, ride vibrant nebulas, and fearlessly venture into uncharted territories.

Josie Campbell serves as the executive producer, while Brianne Drouhard, known for her work on ‘Teen Titans’ and ‘Amethyst, Princess of Gemworld’, takes on the role of co-executive producer.

My Adventures with Green Lantern

Be wary of her might… The Green Lantern’s radiance. In My Adventures with Green Lantern, a Green Lantern Power Ring drops from the heavens and selects high school student Jessica Cruz as its protector. With additional remnants from the Lanterns’ cosmic battle descending, accompanied by their extraterrestrial adversaries, she is compelled to swear an oath to safeguard Earth in both brightest daylight and darkest nightfall.

In the role of co-executive producer, Jake Wyatt will be overseeing production, while Stephanie Gonzaga, known for her work on ‘DuckTales’ and ‘Shimmer and Shine’, assumes the position of co-executive producer in this upcoming project titled My Adventures with Superman>.

My Adventures with Green Lantern” marks the first animated series starring Green Lantern since the 2011 show, “Green Lantern: The Animated Series.” This new animation stands in contrast to DC Studios and HBO’s live-action “Lanterns” series, which is described as a mystery drama akin to “True Detective.
