DC Teases Jason Todd’s Shocking Role in Batman Hush 2

DC Teases Jason Todd’s Shocking Role in Batman Hush 2

As a long-time Batman fan and someone who has seen more than their fair share of Gotham City chaos, I must say that I am genuinely thrilled about the upcoming Batman: H2SH series! The original Hush storyline was a classic, and it’s always exciting to see how modern interpretations breathe new life into beloved stories.

The eagerness for some sequels is hardly matched, especially the upcoming DC title, Batman: H2SH (short for Hush 2), which will commence in a matter of months starting from Batman #158 on March 26th, 2025. This story will unfold across issues 158 to 163, and while the details surrounding Hush’s return remain shrouded in mystery, today DC unveiled some breathtaking variant cover artworks along with glimpses of several interior pages from the initial issue. Moreover, they disclosed one striking cover for Batman #159 that features a furious Jason Todd wielding twin SMGs, with Joker and Batman lying on the ground amidst spent bullet casings. Here are all the covers available for your perusal.

In the initial run of “Hush,” although Jason Todd didn’t physically appear, his influence was immense. The villain Hush manipulated Batman psychologically by playing on the themes of Jason’s death and supposed resurrection throughout the series. Interestingly enough, in reality, Jason Todd came back to life soon after this period.

Currently, it appears he will feature in the upcoming film, but the dynamics between Batman and Red Hood have seldom been more convoluted. This is particularly true following the Gotham conflict between Batman and many of his Bat-Family members. Influenced by Zur-En-Arrh, Batman once administered a fear-inducing serum to Red Hood, causing him to freeze with terror whenever his heart rate escalated. Consequently, any scenario involving vigilantism would be challenging for him.

As a movie enthusiast, I can’t help but speculate about the potential developments in “Hush 2.” It’s clear that “Hush” will undoubtedly focus on some unresolved matters, given its history. Moreover, with rumors swirling about The Joker’s possible involvement, it’s safe to say that Red Hood might face some challenges, considering his past encounters with the man who took the lives of him and his mother in “Death in the Family.

Regarding the remainder of Hush 2, the sequel series is set to debut with a selection of stunning variant covers. Specifically, Batman #158, penned by Jeph Loeb and illustrated by Jim Lee, Scott Williams, and Alex Sinclair, will also be accompanied by variant covers designed by artists such as J. Scott Campbell, Gabriele Dell’otto, Dan Mora, Lee Bermejo, Simone Di Meo, Tony S. Daniel, Sean Gordon Murphy (with a special DC Showcase Variant cover), and the original team of Lee, Williams, and Sinclair will provide additional variant covers too, including a connecting gatefold variant cover.
