DC Unveils First Green Lantern Poster for New DCU Era

DC Studios has publicly revealed the inaugural poster for Green Lantern, signifying a significant step in the character’s eagerly anticipated live-action reboot. The poster offers a sneak peek into the new cinematic interpretation of the celebrated cosmic hero, hinting at his upcoming appearance in Superman. The Green Lantern Corps will serve as a focal point for James Gunn and Peter Safran’s fresh take on the DC Universe. Additionally, an HBO series titled Lanterns is slated for release next year.

DC Studios has created history by revealing the first-ever Green Lantern poster for its rebooted DC Universe, which was unveiled alongside promotional materials for the upcoming “Superman” movie. The poster showcases Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner, the initial Green Lantern to appear in Gunn’s interconnected universe on screen. Donning his Lord Tech uniform, sporting his signature bowl haircut, and flaunting a glowing Power Ring, the poster offers fans their most detailed glimpse yet of this slightly modified depiction of the character.

The initial Green Lantern-themed movie promotional image released by DC since the 2011 Green Lantern film starring Ryan Reynolds showcases Fillion’s Guy Gardner character. Unlike the primary poster for the previous film that featured a design heavy on CGI, depicting Hal Jordan in a glowing green suit and masked eyes, which was generally disliked by fans, this new image has a different style.

For the 2011 film, a second promotional image featured an expanded cast list, among them Mark Strong portraying Sinestro. This change in poster design reflects a trend in comic book movies; contemporary Superman character posters share a resemblance with what Marvel Studios typically unveils before each major release.

Prior to the actual poster reveal, DC Studios had already offered glimpses of Guy Gardner’s revamped look and abilities within the DCU through several trailers for Superman. The official trailer depicted Gardner engaged in intense combat, utilizing his ring to generate a colossal energy fist that overturned military vehicles on a barren battlefield.

Previously, he stood guard by sealing a doorway with a radiant green energy barricade, giving an impression that he was about to converse with David Corenswet’s character, the Man of Steel, who appeared to be overpowered in the ongoing fight at the moment.

As a film enthusiast, I can’t help but get excited about the latest trailer that hints at my character being part of an extraordinary team. You’ll see me soaring through the skies in unison with Hawkgirl (Isabela Merced) and Mr. Terrific (Edi Gathegi), who are apparently members of what’s being referred to as the “Justice Gang.

In the new DC Universe, Guy Gardner could be the initial Green Lantern we meet, but he won’t be the only one. The upcoming HBO Max series titled “Lanterns” is set to shine a light on both Hal Jordan (played by Kyle Chandler) and John Stewart (Aaron Pierre), who are renowned as DC’s most famous Green Lanterns. Although Guy Gardner’s character in Superman seems to have a touch of Gunn’s influence, the initial glimpse of Lanterns presents a more realistic and earthbound portrayal of the Corps.

Fillion’s character isn’t leaving us anytime soon; he’s set to appear in both Season 2 of Peacemaker and Lanterns, suggesting a growing significance within the ever-expanding DC Universe.

In July 2025, Superman is poised to take flight at cinemas, signaling the culmination of the DCEU on the silver screen and the dawn of a fresh narrative. Masterminded by Gunn, the production features Corenswet in the dual role of Clark Kent/Superman, alongside an illustrious ensemble that boasts Rachel Brosnahan, Nicholas Hoult, Gathegi, Carrigan, Fillion, and Merced. Predicted earnings suggest the reboot may rake in anywhere from $154 million to $175 million during its domestic opening weekend, possibly surpassing the performance of Man of Steel.
