DC’s Best Team of Characters Confirmed to Return With New Lineup

As a seasoned comic book enthusiast who has been following the DC universe since the days of Superman and Batman, I can confidently say that the return of the Secret Six is a thrilling development! The intriguing blend of heroes and villains, the fresh lineup, and the connection to the recent events in the DC Universe make this series a must-read for any fan.

The beloved team, Secret Six, is making a comeback with a fresh roster for a new DC All In limited series set to launch in March. Last week, DC Comics officially announced the new series, right as it became available for pre-order by both customers and retailers. You’ll be able to find Secret Six on shelves and digital platforms starting Wednesday, March 5, 2025.

“Secret Six” revolves around an unstable partnership between three superheroes and three supervillains – Dreamer, Jon Kent, Jay Nakamura, Catman, Deadshot, and Black Alice. They discover common goals following the mysterious disappearance of Amanda Waller from her jail cell, causing discomfort for each one of them for different reasons. The storyline continues from “Absolute Power”, where we witnessed the Justice League’s return and Waller’s imprisonment as a war criminal. This engaging tale is penned by author Nicole Maines and illustrated by Stephen Segovia.

It’s incredibly meaningful to me to contribute to DC All In and create a fresh narrative that includes Jon Kent, Jay Nakamura, and Dreamer,” Maines expressed in a statement released by DC. “These characters are at pivotal points in their lives, on the brink of their potential descent into villainy. Bringing them together with the veteran members of The Secret Six, who were once villains themselves, seems to reflect their possible futures.

Segovia expressed his enthusiasm: “I’m thrilled about collaborating with Nicole on this series. Blending heroes and villains within a team promises an exciting dynamic, and I can’t wait for viewers to witness the unique characters that Nicole is crafting.

Suitably, the comic book series titled “Secret Six” will span across six issues during its brief run. The pre-orders for the initial issue can be made featuring the primary cover art by Segovia, or opt for variant covers designed by Sweeney Boo, Leirix, Ariel Olivetti, and Brad Walker.

In 1968, the team known as the “Secret Six” appeared with an entirely different group of members. However, this new series shares similarities with the team from 2005 during the “Infinite Crisis”. The 2005 team featured Catman and Deadshot, while the 2011 New 52 team included Catman and Black Alice. More recently, in the 2019 “Batman/Superman” series, a new concept emerged where Batman formed a twisted version of the Secret Six with Joker toxin, under the control of The Batman Who Laughs.

Speaking of the newcomers, they’ve only recently joined the scene. Jonathan Kent, son of Superman and Lois Lane, made his debut in 2015, with his partner Jay Nakamura entering the picture in 2021. The third member, Dreamer or Nia Nal, joined them in 2022, rounding off our trio. Over a short period, they’ve faced some incredibly tough adversaries, and it seems that they are all still teenagers at this point.

As a passionate movie buff, I’m thrilled to share that the highly anticipated comic book series, Secret Six, is now available for pre-order! The first issue hits the shelves and digital platforms on March 5. For all you DC Universe enthusiasts, this is your chance to delve deeper into the lives of these intriguing characters before the release. You can do so by catching up with them right now through the DC Universe Infinite app. Don’t miss out on this exciting journey!
