DC's Green Arrow Gets Legacy Numbering, New Creative Team

As a longtime fan of Green Arrow, I’m both excited and a little sad about the upcoming changes to the series. On one hand, it’s fantastic to see new creative voices taking over and bringing their unique perspectives to the Emerald Archer’s adventures. Chris Condon and Montos are talented creators with impressive resumes, and I can’t wait to see what they bring to the table.

Green Arrow, DC Comics’ Emerald Archer, is entering a fresh start. During DC’s presentation of Absolute and All In titles on Thursday, it was revealed that the publisher will have a new creative team for the ongoing series starting in October. Chris Condon (The Enfield Gang Massacre, That Texas Blood) and Montos (Green Lantern: War Journal) are taking over. Furthermore, Green Arrow will resume numbering with issue #350 as a nod to its rich history.

“I’m thrilled to share that I’ll be penning down Green Arrow starting from now. I’m grateful for the opportunity to succeed Josh Williamson and Sean Izaakse, with Montos handling the art and Muaadib providing covers. This is a long-held aspiration of mine – I’m a big fan of Ollie, and I aim to do him justice.”

What Is Green Arrow #350 About?

In DC Comics’ Green Arrow issue 350, as revealed by the publishing company, Joshua Williamson brings an end to his successful tenure as writer. This special anniversary edition is oversized and includes legacy numbering. The character Oliver Queen grapples with the consequences of his actions in “Absolute Power.” Having taken drastic measures to shield his loved ones, he now faces the possibility that those actions may have gone too far for his family and friends to ever forgive him.

As a passionate gamer and avid comic book reader, I’m thrilled to share that this must-read issue brings something extraordinary to the table. Not only does it deliver an engaging and captivating storyline, but it also introduces the first chapter of Green Arrow’s upcoming adventure. This new creative team, consisting of writer Chris Condon (behind The Enfield Gang Massacre and That Texas Blood) and artist Montos (known for Green Lantern: War Journal), promises an unforgettable experience.

Why Is Joshua Williamson Leaving Green Arrow?

In the past year, starting around spring 2023, Joshua Williamson and Sea Izaakse took charge of the “Green Arrow” comic book series from DC. Initially planned as a six-issue miniseries, it was expanded to a twelve-issue run due to its success. Subsequently, it transformed into an ongoing series. However, Williamson recently announced his departure from both “Green Arrow” and “Batman and Robin.”

Joshua Williamson expressed that he had been experiencing exhaustion for some time. He had been working tirelessly for several years, putting in long hours and pushing himself to the limit. It was evident that he required a significant break and a substantial reduction in his workload.

Green Arrow #350 will be available wherever comics are sold in October.
