DC's MultiVersus Comic Reveals the Story Behind the Crossover Video Game

As a longtime comic book enthusiast and collector of various universes, I must say that the latest lineup of MultiVersus: Collision Detected is nothing short of exhilarating! The storyline is packed with action, humor, and a touch of suspense that keeps me on the edge of my seat.

Hey there, Dark Knight! The exciting, free-to-play platform fighting game called MultiVersus has made its way onto the pages of DC Comics. Starting September 18th, MultiVersus: Collision Detected #1 launches a new six-issue limited series written by Bryan Q. Miller (Batgirl) and illustrated by Jon Sommariva (Star Wars Adventures). This comic will unveil the original tale behind the game, developed by Player First Games and published by Warner Bros. Games.

In a different phrasing: The mysterious symbol found isn’t listed in Superman’s Fortress of Solitude records, but it was discovered that his fellow superheroes had the same dream with similar visions. It turns out that Wonder Woman depicted these “predictions” or symbols, which signify “the Rabbit,” “the Witch,” and “the Star Child,” while she was sleeping.

As a fervent admirer, I found myself grappling with an uncanny psychic experience that transported me, alongside Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman, to the outskirts of Jersey City, New Jersey. There, we were introduced to Avia, a remarkable young lady whose dwelling was imbued with advanced technology from the realm of the New Gods. The world’s sharpest detective, Batman, deduced that our sudden appearance at Avia’s wasn’t mere happenstance; given our careers’ frequent exposure to Fourth World tech, we were all awakened post a psychic assault instigated by enigmatic cosmic symbols.

Avia casually notes that her parents are absent, currently exploring the Source Wall – a celestial barrier encompassing multiple universes. Interestingly, she neglects to disclose her secret friend, a Flatbush-accented, carrot-munching character named Bugs Bunny, who’s hiding in the closet, along with a multiversal video game console humming with cosmic energies.

In my gaming world, it goes like this: I’ve got the Hare (my Batman), the Sorceress (my Wonder Woman), and the Starborn (my Superman). The Hare is none other than Bugs Bunny, the trickster rabbit from Looney Tunes; the Sorceress resembles the Wicked Witch of the West from The Wizard of Oz, green-skinned and all; and the Starborn hails from Cartoon Network’s Steven Universe, that half-Gem, half-human hero.

Th-th-th-that’s not all, folks. MultiVersus: Collision Detected continues with issue #2 on Oct. 2nd. Upcoming issues, which are previewed below, will feature the trinity’s team-up with Bugs Bunny, mystery-solving with the Scooby-Doo gang, cosmic crossovers with the characters of Adventure Time, Steven Universe, and Tom and Jerry, and battles with the Wicked Witch, the Joker and Harley Quinn, and a new villain: Devoid.
