This week, the unexpected debut of the innovative 3D virtual tabletop has been grabbing headlines among fans of Dungeons & Dragons. However, it’s worth noting that alongside this launch, Wizards of the Coast also secretly unveiled a substantial new Unearthed Arcana release! Unearthed Arcana is essentially a sneak peek at upcoming content for Dungeons & Dragons, allowing players to provide feedback on the materials Wizards releases early. In this latest Unearthed Arcana installment, we get a more detailed look at one of the new Artificer Subclasses that will be included in Eberron: Forge of the Artificer, due out later this year.
As a fellow game enthusiast, I’m excited to share that you can grab these playtest documents for free right here on D&D Beyond, but do remember to create an account first. In the latest Unearthed Arcana PDF, you’ll find a sneak peek at the revamped Artificer class for D&D 2024. This class has been a fan favorite in D&D 5e, and it was quite a surprise when it didn’t make the cut in the 2024 Player’s Handbook reworked classes. However, don’t be fooled! The Artificer, along with some fresh and revamped subclasses, will make its grand comeback with Eberron: Forge of the Artificer when it drops on August 19th.
In late 2024, Wizards unveiled an early draft of the revamped Artificer for playtesting. Now, we’re presenting the new version, which includes the debut of one of the fresh subclasses and updates on Dragonmarks modifications. Some aspects of the 2024 Artificer have been refined based on feedback from the previous Unearthed Arcana, making it a good idea to revisit if you had comments on the initial version.
What’s Included in the Eberron Updates Unearthed Arcana for Dungeons & Dragons
This newly released Artificer Unearthed Arcana provides a comprehensive look at the latest Eberron content compared to its previous version. Inside, players can discover the recent adjustments to the Artificer overhaul as well as the freshly introduced Cartographer subclass. Essentially, Eberron: Forge of the Artificer brings forth several revised and new Artificer subclasses, but this is the first time we get a detailed glimpse of them.
As its name implies, a Cartographer is essentially an expert navigator. Utilizing their tools and magic, they mark dangers, safeguard their companions, and sometimes create gateways to distant locations. The Unearthed Arcana provides a glimpse into the Cartographer’s spell list and abilities, such as Adventurer’s Atlas, Portal Jump, among others. If you find this Artificer style appealing, the Unearthed Arcana offers all the necessary details to build one – with your Dungeon Master’s approval, naturally.
Apart from the new features in the latest Dungeons & Dragons playtest, there’s also an initial peek at the fresh Dragonmarks feats. This updated 2024 5th edition Eberron revision brings forth a number of novel feats that will significantly alter how characters can become part of the Dragonmarked Houses of Eberron. It’s quite a departure from the way Dragonmarked classes functioned previously, as it allows any species to obtain a dragonmark and progress through various new feats to enhance its power.
If you’re eagerly anticipating the comeback of Dungeons & Dragons in Eberron, this recent playtest provides a thrilling sneak peek into what we can expect when Eberron: Forge of the Artificer is released on August 19th.
