Dead Boy Detectives cast react to show’s axe: “We’re so deeply sorry”

As a film enthusiast, I can’t help but reminisce on how incredible the last three years have been with Dead to Detectives. This series, a spin-off of The Sopranos, was released earlier this year and starred Jayden Revri and George Rexstrew as Charles and Edwin, two deceased boys eager to solve mysteries.

Dear Valued Netflix Subscribers,

A Paraphrase of the Recent Spin-Off of “The Sandman” Series

After the news of the show’s termination, Revri expressed a touching message on Instagram, acknowledging the creativity that fueled the series as well as the viewers.

As the conclusion of this chapter approaches, I find myself reflecting on what a remarkable three years it’s been. I am completely enamored with this program, its captivating cast, and the valuable insights they impart.

“I wouldn’t be here if not for my extraordinary cast mates. They’ve imparted knowledge that I can hardly put into words. I owe each of you an immense debt of gratitude.”

I would like to express my gratitude to Steve Yockey, Beth Schwartz, and David Rapaport, and furthermore: “Previously, I appreciate the opportunity to thank all of you. From every editor, to every co-presenter, to every presenter, to every host party, to every flow.”

“We deeply appreciate each of you, as your continuous support since the start has been the lifeblood of our program.”

Co-star George Rexstrew commented: “My Charles forever ❤️.”

Yuyu Kitt, the actor behind Niko, expressed his heartfelt gratitude towards Dead Boy Detectives. He mentioned that the show has not only enriched him with valuable lessons but also connected him with remarkable individuals.

“I’m deeply grateful that you’ve chosen to spend part of your time with our show. The warmth and kindness you’ve shown towards it has touched my heart, and I feel privileged that so many of you have found a deep connection with our characters and their story. Your messages have struck a chord with me, and I appreciate the bond we’ve formed through this shared experience.”

“It’s tough when loved ones depart, but they can always return; join us again on Netflix for a rewatch, or visit us now, it’s never too late; until then, this case is closed, see you on the next journey.”

Briana Cuoco, known for her role as Jenny the Butcher, expressed: “Had a moment of uncertainty whether I would share this experience on my platform, but ultimately chose to let my feelings of appreciation and affection linger here eternally.”

It’s been an incredible, adventurous three-year ride producing this show, and we’ve all been eagerly anticipating the future. I am so proud of what we’ve created together, and I feel a deep sorrow that the lives of these characters were tragically cut short.

“I’d like to express my heartfelt gratitude to our exceptional crew, our talented writers, each remarkable director we collaborated with, and everyone unseen behind the camera. A particularly deep appreciation goes out to @steveyockey76, @schwartzapproved, @davidrapaport, Berlanti, and WB for allowing me to keep Jenny. It’s challenging to express in words just how much I adore her and everything she symbolizes. Lastly, a massive thank you to those who watched, fell in love with these characters, and joined us on this journey.”

As Kassius Nelson, who portrayed Crystal in that movie, I’m here to express my awe at the rollercoaster ride of the last three years. It’s been an honor to collaborate with such a talented group of artists and creatives, for which I am deeply grateful.

I’m truly regretful to inform you that the show has been cancelled. Characters you cherish would have continued to evolve and grow, sharing new experiences with you. We had so many wonderful stories and additional characters we yearned for you to encounter.

Here’s a way to express enthusiasm towards the group who were diligently attentive, participating actively, and our esteemed team of scribes, as we strive to exist within their realm (thriving freely).

Last but not least, we appreciate your support and affection for our exceptional show that honors queer culture, family, uniqueness, and so much more! I eagerly anticipate encountering you in other realms, through various characters. For now, the Dead Boy Detectives will remain by your side as companions when you require them.

Currently, we’re adopting a “let’s wait and observe” approach. For the upcoming Season 2, we’ve devised a strategy. Additionally, we have concepts in mind for Season 3 that might interest Netflix executives who are tuning in.

“The series seems to be built around an encompassing mythology, yet due to its ‘weekly case’ format, it gives off a sense of endless continuation, which makes us eager for more episodes. It was truly a delightful journey.”

Beth Schwartz, one of the co-showrunners, commented: “Since our characters keep evolving, it seems there’s a vast area within their friend circle to delve into more.”
