As a dedicated fan of Dead by Daylight, I couldn’t be more thrilled about the latest updates that have started rolling out in this incredible game. The arrival of Lara Croft is an exciting addition to the roster, but it’s the upcoming 2v8 game mode and cross-progression that truly have me buzzing with anticipation!

View Urgent ForecastDead by Daylight has entered its ninth year with new updates, starting today. The Tomb Raider collaboration, featuring Lara Croft, is now live. Her arrival is thrilling, but there’s more to look forward to in July: a highly anticipated new game mode that increases the challenge and player count, as well as cross-progression for seamless transition between platforms.
2v8 Game Mode
Starting July 25th, Dead by Daylight players will have a new and exhilarating experience with Trials in 2v8 mode. In this setup, two Killers face off against eight survivors, introducing a fresh and terrifying dynamic. Five classic maps are available for selection, each expanded to accommodate the larger player count. Survivors must now repair between 8 to 13 generators to escape, while generators have been doubled in number. The gameplay is streamlined with removed Hooks and Perks to maintain a fast-paced experience. Downed Survivors are sent directly to Cages, and Survivor Perks are replaced by a new role system that promotes collaboration among players within a Trial. Instead of classes for Survivors, Killers will receive power adjustments and a teamwork-enhancing ability to inflict greater chaos as a duo.
At a news conference about the 2v8 Game Mode, more information was shared concerning this specific game setting.
- Four Survivors and Five Killers available with hopes to implement more Killers in the future
- Killers are limited – players cannot select the same Killer
- Initial period will be July 25th – August 8th, though long-term this will hopefully be implemented as a permanent Game Mode with multiple planned iterations to undergo improvement
I, as a passionate fan, can tell you that the production team’s main objective was to craft an extraordinary Trial experience unlike any other. Instead of adhering to the usual routine, we aimed to inject fun and chaos into the game by accommodating ten players simultaneously. We put effort into exploring how this dynamic could be amplified to create a lively and festive atmosphere, transforming it into a captivating party mode for the game.
Cross-Progression
starting July 22nd, cross-progression will be available for Dead by Daylight gamers who have a Behaviour Account and own the game on multiple platforms. This long-awaited feature allows players to sync their progress and data across all their devices, enhancing their gaming experience significantly.
