Dead by Daylight Is Getting a Castlevania-Themed Game Mode

As a seasoned gamer with years of experience under my belt, I must say that the latest addition to Dead by Daylight – the Castlevania-themed Lights Out mode – has truly rekindled my excitement for this game. The introduction of the Candelabra item adds a new layer of strategy and intrigue, making every match feel fresh and unpredictable.

Last month saw the addition of Castlevania to Dead by Daylight’s roster of DLC characters, and it appears there’s more Castlevania content in store. Recenty, Behaviour Interactive revealed that when the Lights Out game mode comes back, it will have a unique Castlevania spin with a new item, the Candelabra, being added to the Lights Out modifier. The Castlevania-themed Dead by Daylight mode is set for release on September 12th, but prior to that, we already have a sneak peek at what this game mode variation will entail and what the function of the Candelabra will be.

As a seasoned Dead by Daylight player stepping back into Lights Out mode, you’ll recognize the gameplay focus has maintained its familiar vibe. The Dark World Filter and absence of HUD make the usual experience darker and more challenging, with no scratch marks, terror radii, or loadouts to rely on in this mode. However, the good news is there are more treasure chests doling out better loot. The new Candelabra item is a game-changer here; each Survivor starts the match armed with one, which can help you locate generators and fellow survivors. But, beware, getting put in the dying state forces you to drop your trusty Candelabra.

Although the live gameplay for the Lights Out – Castlevania mode hasn’t started just yet, we’ve managed to get a sneak peek of the Candelabra functionality, and here are some insights:

Lights Out – Castlevania’s New Candelabra Item

  • From the darkness, a new beacon of light emerges: the Candelabra.
  • Only available for use in Modifier: Lights Out – Castlevania.
  • All Survivors start with one held in hand.
  • Additional Candelabras can be found in chests during the trial.
  • Hold to push back the fog.
  • Use to reveal the aura of the closest incomplete generator.
  • Use to also display fellow Survivor actions in the HUD.
  • Place on a generator to reveal its aura to all Survivors within 32 meters.
  • Fully repair the generator to hide generator auras from the Killer for 15 seconds.
  • Removing the Candelabra from the completed generator will end this timer.
  • Killers can destroy Candelabras that are on generators.

Contrary to the additional content in Castlevania that required payment, the Castlevania-themed Lights Out modifier is free for all players. It’s set to return to Dead by Daylight on September 12th, with the Chaos Shuffle mode following on September 24th.
