Over the upcoming weekend, you might want to give a try to the popular asymmetric multiplayer horror game “Dead by Daylight“. Developer Behaviour Interactive has revived their fan-loved 2v8 mode, this time partnering with the iconic survival horror video game franchise, Resident Evil, for added appeal. In the meantime, they’ve introduced two Survivor bots to assist in 2v8 matches when Killer queue times are long. Unfortunately, it didn’t seem to significantly reduce wait times. As a result, the team has announced another test is ongoing, featuring requested features that could potentially delight both Survivors and Killers.
In a recent update from the official Dead by Daylight account, the developers admitted that adding just two bots only decreased wait times by 3 minutes, leaving many players frustrated because queue times were still lengthy. Another source of dissatisfaction stemmed from the way the bots behaved, with most games favoring the Killers. Consequently, rewards have been enhanced over Valentine’s Day weekend to strongly motivate Survivors specifically.
Currently, gamers receive a threefold XP boost for every player across all game modes, meaning increased XP earnings no matter which match type or role you choose. To address the bot problem in 2v8 matches, there’s now a maximum of one Survivor bot per lobby. Furthermore, both 2v8 and 1v4 modes offer a +400% Bloodpoint bonus for Survivors to encourage players to opt for less popular roles and possibly cut down on waiting times. Keep in mind that these benefits are only available until the weekend ends, so if you want to enjoy the extra perks, make sure to play within the next few days.
On February 17th, starting from Monday, the developer has revealed a change where all bots in the game mode 2v8 will be temporarily deactivated for two days. This means that players might need to wait until there are only human Survivors and Killers in a match. At this point, it’s unclear if this change is permanent as its main purpose is to collect “comparative data.” Players are encouraged to share their feedback after experiencing the changes. The developer will analyze the test period results and provide updates on future plans.
In conjunction with the reintroduction of the 2v8 mode, the Dead by Daylight Resident Evil partnership introduces The Nemesis and The Mastermind as new additions to the Killer lineup. Furthermore, the Raccoon City Police Department from Resident Evil 2 has been integrated into the map rotation.
For the first time, The Nemesis and The Mastermind are joining forces in a collaborative effort, creating an unprecedented scenario. Their lethal abilities, respectively stemming from the T-Virus and Uroboros, both target Survivors by infecting them.
The new Dead by Daylight Resident Evil content is available to play now on all platforms.
