Dead by Daylight Update Reverts Some Mori Kill Changes After Feedback

As a long-time fan of Dead by Daylight, I must say that Behaviour Interactive has once again shown their dedication to listening to the community and making adjustments accordingly. The recent changes to the Mori kill system were met with mixed reactions, but the decision to revert the changes for the Ivory Memento Mori and Ebony Memento Mori Offerings is a welcome one.

Behaviour Interactive, the creators of Dead by Daylight, have been refining their Mori kill system, which allows Killer players to stylishly execute Survivors in specific situations. In a recent update, they enabled Killer players to finish off the last Survivor in a match following the dying state, adding a more dramatic ending to each round. However, as a result of this change, items that previously granted Mori kills during the game have been transformed into large Bloodpoint rewards instead.

Some “Dead by Daylight” players embraced this fresh Mori kill setup, but many others found themselves displeased with it entirely. Critics argued that it would foster harmful player behaviors driven by the allure of substantial Bloodpoint rewards, while others preferred the excitement of executing a Mori kill during gameplay rather than consistently at the game’s end when most Survivor players had already withdrawn their attention.

Following the evaluation of the feedback, Behaviour opted to reverse the adjustments for two items: the Ivory Memento Mori and Ebony Memento Mori Items. Rather than solely providing large Bloodpoint rewards upon entry into a game, these two offerings focused on Moris will now enable players to execute Survivors who have been hooked twice instead.

The latest update on Dead by Daylight mentioned that they’ve been receiving feedback concerning alterations made to the Ivory & Ebony Memento Mori Offerings during the PTB. It appears these changes resulted in fewer mid-game kills and group photo possibilities, along with worries about the Bloodpoint reward promoting unenjoyable gameplay. With these concerns in mind, they have chosen to revert the adjustments made to the Mori Offerings.

Those two Mori offerings are the ones that allow for kills in the middle of a match regardless of how many Survivors are left, but another offering, the Cypress Memento Mori, is being retired completely. Its purpose was to grant Killers the ability to kill the last Survivor in a match once they were put in the dying state, and since the Mori system is being reworked so that you can do that for free, there’s no reason for this offering to exist anymore. As such, it’s being taken out of the game, and for those who have any Cypress Memento Moris they’re holding onto, you’ll get 1 million Bloodpoints just for logging into the game during a window in October.

Due to recent changes, the Cypress Memento Mori Offering has been phased out and will no longer be available. To compensate for this, our team is providing 1 Million Bloodpoints to those who have unused offerings. You can claim these points by logging into your account between October 8th and October 17th.
