Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster Mega Guide – Early Gun, Level Up Fast, Farm Prestige Points and More

As a seasoned survivor of the zombie apocalypse, I can confidently say that these tips are golden! Leveling up quickly is crucial in this game, and having access to those skill books is like finding a treasure map leading to buried PP!

For almost two decades after the initial launch of the “Dead Rising” series exclusively on Xbox 360, its developer has recently unveiled the “Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster” across various platforms. As an open-world action-adventure game, “Dead Rising” offers diverse paths for players to advance within the game. Nevertheless, there are certain tried-and-true strategies that can make the gameplay smoother, particularly in the early and mid stages.

Here’s a handy beginner’s manual packed with essential information on the earliest and top-tier weapons, hidden skill book locations, and rapid leveling strategies for the revamped version of Dead Rising Deluxe.

Early Gun

At the start of the game, you’ll encounter a survivor at the foot of some stairs fending off a crowd of zombies with a shotgun. Instead of obeying the command to “Flee for safety!”, dodge the zombies until the survivor is overrun and drops his gun. You can then pick it up for your own use. This initial ranged weapon, the shotgun, will prove useful early in the game, particularly for swiftly dispatching Psychopaths who provide access to additional weapons, both melee and ranged.

Early Melee Weapon

If you spot any mannequins in the shopping center, disassemble them by taking apart their various parts until you can grasp the torso. In the initial stages of the game, this body part can serve as a highly useful melee weapon, prior to obtaining the Small Chainsaw.

Weapon Durability

In the Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster, always prioritize learning skills that will help you maintain your weapons for extended periods, ensuring their longevity.

  • Criminal Biography

Keep in mind that many weapons will respawn in their original locations.

Best Melee Weapon

Without a doubt, the Compact Chainsaw stands out as the top melee weapon obtainable in Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster. You can secure it by defeating Adam the Clown, who is among the Psychopath bosses located within Wonderland Plaza.

Initially, keep an eye out for a call from Otis at 9 PM, then make your way to the plaza to deal with Adam. The gun you obtained earlier in the game will prove useful in this situation. After encountering Adam and collecting two Small Chainsaws he drops, prolong their lifespan by also obtaining two skill books: Criminal Biography and Engineering 1. Having these books in your inventory will cause them to work together, significantly increasing the duration of the Small Chainsaws for maximum destruction. Once they eventually break, just head back to their spawn location to grab more.

Unlimited Molotov Cocktails

In case you need to manage large numbers of zombies, the Molotov Cocktail is handy as a throwable weapon. To obtain an endless supply, follow the original method. Starting on day 3 at dawn, receive a call from Otis and search for the boss, Paul the Arsonist, who resides in the Casual Gals store within Wonderland Park.

After defeating him, pause for the cutscene, then seize the Fire Extinguisher and use it to extinguish the flames enveloping him, thus saving his life. Interact with Paul to enlist him, and escort both him and the other two survivors hiding in the store back to the Security Room.

In the course of the afternoon, Otis should contact you, asking you to chat with Paul once more. Later in the Security Room, Paul will share the news that you now can draw from an unlimited stockpile of Molotov Cocktails, as long as he stays there.

Level Up Fast

To advance rapidly, try acquiring numerous skill books that enhance Prestige Points (PP) as much as possible prior to undertaking the corresponding tasks for earning PP.

    • Get a 25% boost to PP resulting from defeating zombies.
    • The Sinister Read in Entrance Plaza 2F

Keep in mind that you can accumulate the impact of all these skill manuals, but remember, your main constraint will be the storage space in your inventory at any moment.

Farm Prestige Points

The absolute best method for Prestige Point farming has always been running over zombies with a vehicle. Unfortunately, the vehicles will inevitably start to smoke and then eventually explode after a while. On the other hand, loading screens will reset the vehicles to their initial spawn locations, at full durability. Abuse this mechanic to your advantage:

I’m heading towards the vibrant red convertible parked in the Public Parking lot. Climbing in, I’ll navigate my way to the Maintenance Tunnels below. Down here, there are not one but two more vehicles I can snag. For now, let’s keep this sleek convertible handy as a swift means of transportation. Driving cautiously, I’ll make my way to either of the other vehicles, one hidden under the grocery store in the north-west, or nestled beneath Paradise Plaza in the east. The sequence doesn’t matter; I’ll be taking a loop around eventually returning to the convertible.

Navigate the first vehicle amidst a zombie mob, racking up Prestige Points while the vehicle wears down, aiming to get as near as possible to the next vehicle before it blows up naturally. Repeat this with the second vehicle, trying to make your way back to the convertible this time. Once both other vehicles have detonated, drive the convertible into as many zombies as it can handle until it too is on its last breaths. Then, use the loading screen to leave the tunnels and return to Public Parking, which restarts both the convertible and the other vehicles, allowing you to begin the Prestige Point farming process anew from scratch.

Make sure you gather the skill books that grant the PP-bonus awards, as they provide a combined increase of 50% to all zombie kills when stacked, prior to starting this approach for optimal effectiveness.

Those are some of the best starter tips for playing Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster.
