Deadpool and Wolverine Director Has Surprising Answer About Marvel Future

As a long-time gamer and film enthusiast, I’ve been thrilled to see Shawn Levy’s Marvel Cinematic Universe debut. Having grown up watching his movies like “Night at the Museum” and “Real Steel,” it’s exciting to witness him collaborate with Ryan Reynolds on projects like “Free Guy” and “The Adam Project.” When I heard that Levy was set to direct the third Deadpool installment, titled “Deadpool & Wolverine,” my anticipation grew even more.

Shawn Levy is making his first entry into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Known for hit movies like “Night at the Museum” and “Real Steel,” Levy recently teamed up with Ryan Reynolds on the films “Free Guy” (2021) and “The Adam Project” (2022). When Reynolds was ready to create a new installment in the “Deadpool” series, he chose Levy as the director. Excited by the prospect, Levy agreed as long as the project had a compelling storyline. By March 2022, Levy’s involvement was officially announced for what would later be named “Deadpool & Wolverine.” Reynolds’ colleagues have praised Levy’s work, leading fans to speculate about his potential involvement in other Marvel projects.

Shawn Levy Responds to Marvel Future Rumors

Deadpool and Wolverine Director Has Surprising Answer About Marvel Future

Deadpool & Wolverine‘s director may just be getting started in the Marvel Studios sandbox.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Shawn Levy, the director of Deadpool and Wolverine, mentioned that he’s come across rumors about being linked to directing films like Avengers: Secret Wars. However, he didn’t verify or dismiss these reports.

“I’ve read those reports as well since I have access to the internet, but let me add that I’ve gone through a great deal of reports. Recently, I’ve been fully engrossed in producing this film, an experience that has brought me immense satisfaction. It appears Marvel felt the same way. So, without revealing any specifics, I wouldn’t be shocked if my collaboration with Marvel continues.”

According to recent news, it seems that Levy’s hints about Marvel’s future may involve a secret project. Not long ago, rumors emerged that the Russo brothers were in discussions with Marvel Studios to helm both “Avengers 5” and “Avengers: Secret Wars.” If these reports are true, an announcement could be made as soon as this coming weekend at San Diego Comic-Con.

If “Secret Wars” is currently unavailable for Levy, his next potential project in the Marvel universe could be “X-Men.” Given his experience directing mutants with “Deadpool” and “Wolverine,” it would make sense for him to take the helm of the first Marvel Studios production of an “X-Men” film.

I’ve had the immense pleasure of collaborating with Shawn Levy on our first film together, “Deadpool & Wolverine.” Working with him was nothing short of extraordinary. His ability to direct and tell stories is truly remarkable. The passion and excitement he brings to the set is infectious, carrying both cast and crew through even the most challenging production days. It’s not an easy feat to create a movie of this scale, but Shawn made it look effortless. And when we wrapped up production, everyone was sad to part ways – an emotion that doesn’t always surface at the end of filming. It’s a privilege to work with people you genuinely enjoy being around and who help you produce something cool and unique.

Deadpool & Wolverine hits theaters this Friday, July 26th.
