Deadpool and Wolverine record breaking begins…..

As a devoted cinephile who has been following the box office trends for decades, I must admit that I am thoroughly impressed by the Deadpool and Wolverine record-breaking feat we are witnessing with this third installment. The numbers speak for themselves: $438.3 million worldwide in just three days, shattering records left and right! IMAX contributed an impressive $36.5 million alone, a July and R-rated record for the large-format exhibitor.

Now that the third film of Deadpool and Wolverine is out globally, their box office successes are expected to set new records.

I was thrilled to learn that the movie was anticipated to rake in between $160 million and $175 million in North America, which were already impressive numbers given its restricted rating. But to my amazement, it actually grossed an astounding $205 million just in the US box office alone! The film also defied expectations on a global scale, setting new records for an R-rated movie by earning $233.3 million from 55 international markets within the first few days of release. That’s a grand total of $438.3 million worldwide! IMAX enthusiasts contributed $36.5 million to this staggering number through Imax ticket sales, breaking previous July and R-rated records for the large-format exhibitor. The U.K. market showed remarkable strength with $22.1 million in ticket sales, closely followed by Mexico with a robust $18.7 million. Australia added $13 million to the global tally, while Germany and India each reported impressive figures of $10 million each.

Globally, the earnings from Marvel’s MCU films at the box office have surpassed $30 billion, making it the highest-grossing film franchise of all time.

As a die-hard fan of Marvel movies, I’ve witnessed many spectacular openings, but nothing quite compares to the record-breaking success of “Deadpool 3” starring Ryan Reynolds, Josh Levy, and Hugh Jackman as Wolverine. This film holds a special place in my heart for several reasons.

Despite Inside Out 2 bringing in an impressive $1.5 billion for Disney, making it the highest-grossing animated film to date, Deadpool 3 may challenge its position as the top-earning movie of 2024.

Marvel or Disney will breathe a sigh of relief in 2024 as their superhero franchise recovers from a disastrous year in 2023. Two films, “Ant-Man and The Quantumania” and “The Marvels,” underperformed critically and commercially. Fortunately, “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” was a success both critically and financially.
