Deadpool & Wolverine “A True One-Off”: “Not a Commercial” for Another MCU Movie

As a die-hard fan of the Marvel Universe, I couldn’t be more excited about the upcoming “Deadpool & Wolverine” movie. But let me tell you, it’s not just another installment in the Deadpool franchise or a simple setup for an “Avengers vs. X-Men” or “Avengers: Secret Wars” film. According to Ryan Reynolds himself, who stars in, produces, and co-writes the movie, this is a true one-off that’s not meant to be a commercial for another film (Collider).

As a gamer, I’d put it this way: “Deadpool and Wolverine isn’t Deadpool 3, let me clarify that. It’s not a typical threequel but rather a unique team-up between Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool and Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine. Contrary to popular belief, this Marvel Studios production doesn’t lead to an Avengers vs. X-Men or Avengers: Secret Wars movie. The film’s main man, Reynolds, who also produced and co-wrote the script, assures us that it’s a standalone story in the grand scheme of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.”

Reynolds explained to Collider that the film wasn’t intended as an advertisement for another project. Instead, it was truly designed as a standalone production.

“Many people face tough times in life, and it’s been a long-standing issue,” he went on. “To leave a movie theater feeling elated and having experienced an unexpectedly moving yet audacious and subversive story – one that surpasses our expectations for this character and world – is quite the achievement. It’s always fascinating to witness such a struggle between anticipations. I’m overjoyed that Marvel shares my enthusiasm. For me personally, this is the finest production I’ve ever been involved in.”

I, as a devoted fan, can assure you that just because Reynolds’ wisecracking Merc with a Mouth and Jackman’s razor-clawed mutant didn’t make an appearance in the recent Avengers movies doesn’t mean they won’t show up in future instalments. The upcoming Avengers 5 and the multiverse-spanning Secret Wars are still on the horizon, set to conclude the Multiverse Saga in 2027. During the Deadpool & Wolverine press tour, both actors have skillfully avoided answering questions about their potential return to the superhero ensemble.

Reynolds replied to Variety with, “I’m not certain about Deadpool and MCU’s future with Wolverine. Jackman also expressed uncertainty, stating, “I’m unsure how to respond to that question.” In simpler terms, they both didn’t have an answer.

The film rated R for mature audiences, “Deadpool with Wolverine,” features returning cast members Morena Baccarin as Vanessa, Leslie Uggams as Blind Al, Karan Soni as Dopinder, Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Shioli Kutsuna as Yukio, Stefan Kapi?i? as Colossus, Robe Delaney as Peter, and Dafne Keen as Laura/X-23 from “Logan. Newcomers to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Matthew Macfadyen as TVA Agent Paradox and Emma Corrin as Cassandra Nova, also join the cast. The movie premieres exclusively in theaters on July 26th.
