As a fan who has been following the Marvel Cinematic Universe for decades, I can’t help but feel a sense of nostalgic excitement upon hearing about the potential inclusion of Mojo and the X-Babies in Deadpool & Wolverine! Growing up, these characters were staples of my comic book collection, and seeing them brought to life on the big screen would have been a dream come true.
In the movie, Deadpool and Wolverine share the screen with numerous unexpected appearances from various areas within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Actors like Wesley Snipes as Blade and Jennifer Garner as Elektra reappear in their roles, while both characters also have guest spots from diverse versions of themselves. At one point, it was planned to introduce one of the most famous X-Men antagonists. As per a recent post by Marvel Studios visual development head Andy Park, there were talks about incorporating Mojo and the X-Babies into the plot.
Concept art for the DEADPOOL AND WOLVERINE movie: Introducing Baby Wolverine! Although not featured in the film, imagine the excitement if this Mojo-created X-Baby had come to life. I was a big fan of how @chrisclearmountain and @arthuradamsart brought these characters to life in those Uncanny X-Men annuals. This artwork, along with more, will be included in the upcoming The Art of Deadpool and Wolverine book.
As a devoted fan, I can’t help but share my excitement over the potential for a comeback by none other than Wesley Snipes! It seems that nearly every opportunity for appearances or cameos was on the table, yet he expressed his initial skepticism, believing a return to be an unattainable dream.
Snipes expressed surprise earlier this year when discussing his return to Marvel, stating, “I never thought it would be possible. I didn’t believe we could manage it. I doubted that Marvel was interested, let alone Disney… With Mahershala Ali cast for the next version of it, it seemed illogical to me. But when an unexpected call comes from Ryan Reynolds after 20 years, you answer. So I did, wondering what he had to say. He shared his idea… They agreed, and the project was greenlit. ‘If you’re in,’ they said, ‘we’re in.’ And here we are.”
