As a seasoned gamer and Marvel fanatic with over two decades under my belt, let me tell you that the latest Deadpool & Wolverine movie has sent me into a frenzy! The cameos in this film are nothing short of mind-blowing, and it’s not just about Henry Cavill as Cavillrine or Chris Evans reprising his role as Johnny Storm. The true magic lies in the unexpected appearances of actors like Wesley Snipes as Blade, Jennifer Garner as Elektra, and Dafne Keen as X-23. These are characters that I grew up watching on the big screen, and to see them all together in one movie is nothing short of a dream come true!

[Warning: This article contains Deadpool & Wolverine spoilers.] The mind behind the Merc with the Mouth’s third installment can finally talk about those surprise Deadpool & Wolverine cameos. Director Shawn Levy had been teasing that the Marvel Studios movie — which officially lifted its spoiler embargo with footage offering a glimpse at characters who were otherwise kept out of the marketing — contains a “multitude of character cameos.” The most unexpected: former Superman star Henry Cavill’s cigar-chomping “Cavillrine” and Chris Evans’ Johnny Storm/Human Torch from the Fox-made Fantastic Four movies.

After the revelation, Levy decided to post on social media a backstage cast picture he had taken. He titled the photo “I think I’ve found director Heaven,” and in it, Levy is seen with Ryan Reynolds, Hugh Jackman, Channing Tatum, Wesley Snipes, Jennifer Garner, and Dafne Keen.

In the Void, a realm filled with discarded characters from different universes, Wade Wilson (Reynolds) and an alternate version of Logan/Wolverine (Jackman) encounter each other. This realm is managed by the Time Variance Authority, and among its inhabitants are unsavory figures like Professor X’s evil twin sister, Cassandra Nova (Emma Corrin). They join a resistance group based in the borderlands that includes heroes such as Blade (Snipes), Elektra (Garner), X-23 (Keen), and Gambit (Tatum). This team is composed of the remaining characters from various abandoned franchises, with notable absentees being Daredevil, The Punisher, Quicksilver, and Magneto, who were presumably killed off-screen.

“Everybody we asked said yes and somehow made the time,” Levy told EW. “Jen, Channing, Dafne, and Wesley, they flew to England a week before shooting on their own volition and desire because they wanted to learn and do the choreography of the action themselves. They came a week early right away showing a level of enthusiasm that is not at all the norm for someone who’s just doing a so-called cameo.”

Later, an actors’ strike took place just a day before filming began, forcing everyone to return home. However, when they returned several months later, they came back with the same fervor. This alone encapsulates the incredible spirit that was poured into creating this film. (Levy added)

Beyond the Empty Realm, a team of Deadpool characters were introduced. Ryan Reynolds’ relatives took on these roles: Lady Deadpool (Blake Lively), Kidpool (Inez Reynolds), and Babypool (Olin Reynolds). We also see Cowboy Deadpool (Matthew McConaughey) carrying firearms, and the undead Headpool (voiced by Nathan Fillion). Jon Favreau, who played Happy Hogan in films like Iron Man, The Avengers, and Spider-Man: No Way Home, appeared when Wade moved to the Sacred Timeline of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This timeline is monitored by B-15, a character similar to Loki’s Wunmi Mosaku, who was seen in the TVA.

Marvel Studios’ Deadpool & Wolverine is now playing only in theaters.
